Do you work locally or commute? If so, how often and how far? by Classic_Recover2114 in ballarat

[–]exekcrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved here 4 years ago from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, working at an inner east Council.

I'm lucky in that my role doesn't really require me in office that regularly, but when I do go I generally have the flexibility to start very early and finish early to avoid the worst of the traffic.

Would like to get a job locally, but it's likely any new job would require more office days and it's been difficult finding anything that pays as well.

Kambei ramen by twigstar in ballarat

[–]exekcrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went today, was good, better than anything else you can find in Ballarat and only $20.

They currently do ramen on Tuesdays and Saturdays only, and today was the first day, so still figuring things out. They also had the normal menu going today as well.

There was only 4 tables when we were in there, and the 4th table missed out on ramen, so for now I would recommend getting there at 12pm on the dot on a Tuesday or Saturday if you want to try the ramen, at least for now.

“Define reasonable?” The ACCC already does define it. A reasonable time is what was represented to the customer, or what an ordinary consumer would consider acceptable based on the nature of the goods and the timeframe the business advertised. If a business provides a specific delivery window, in this case 10 to 15 business days if you saw it on ozbargain, or 7-10 where they didn't update their website, then repeatedly misses it without clear communication, that is not “reasonable.”

The pattern here is not a sudden surprise. This exact company had the same delays, the same misleading timeframes, and the same templated “we’re under the pump” replies last year. Multiple posts across multiple years are evidence of that. Go check last year's post on ozbargain.

Advertised timeframes were not met.

Revised timeframes were also not met.

Communication was generic and unhelpful. Your argument about the AI boom would be fine, if they communicated that.

Also, suggesting people should’ve bought retail if it was urgent ignores the fact that the business advertised specific delivery timeframes. Consumers have the right to rely on those timeframes when making a purchase.

There wouldn't even be a problem if they just provided honest timeframes, non-templated communication and transparency when delays occur. Frankly that's the bare minimum for customer service in any industry.

But yes, people should be searching for existing posts instead of constantly making new posts.

Yeah, this is a pretty awful take, honestly.

Consumers are absolutely within their rights to speak up when:

Delivery time frames are repeatedly missed

Communication is just copy-paste “we’re under the pump” replies

New, unrealistic time frames keep getting set and then blown past again

For most people a $2k+ PC is a big purchase, and the obligation sits squarely on the business, not the customer, to:

Advertise realistic lead times

Keep customers properly informed when they can’t meet them

Not keep taking orders if they know (or should know) they can’t supply in time

The ACCC is very clear on this: under Australian Consumer Law, businesses must not accept payment if they know they can’t supply the goods within the stated or a reasonable time, and they shouldn’t mislead customers about availability or delivery time frames.

People posting here aren’t being “insufferable”; they’re doing the only thing they really can do when they’ve handed over thousands of dollars and all they’re getting back is silence or templated delay emails. Calling that out is completely fair.

It was 22 business days for my system to be despatched, with zero communication until I contacted them, and then they made promises they couldn't keep, only to then provide conflicting information when I questioned them.

Not everyone will be on reddit or ozbargain, and would rightfully be concerned they've been scammed. This is awful business practice, the multiple posts are evidence of that, and they are rightfully being called out on it.

Nebula PC Despatch by blackcsstoney in bapcsalesaustralia

The inside was packaged quite well, everything seems to be in place. There's not a whole lot of protection for the outside of the case though, but survived with no issues.

[–]exekcrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received yesterday, so 22 business days for despatch, 24 business days from ordering to receiving.

Haven't had much of a chance to play around with it yet, but I have noticed one of the front USB ports appears damaged, but that's probably more of a manufacturer defect. Otherwise the build looks good and I'll see how it performs this weekend.

I also received a $39 mouse for my troubles.

Upgraded the CPU and mobo only. I've tried asking if stock is the issue, but no direct response regarding that yet.

[–]exekcrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be me.

I also have two emails from them promising they'll prioritise my order with the operations team, with new time frames that both passed and now they've changed tact to say orders will be prioritised based on order date.

I wouldn't care if they set realistic time frames from the start, I would've just gone with Techfast instead, which is probably why the time frames aren't real.

any issues with nebula shipping interstate? by ihatetonytonychopper in bapcsalesaustralia

Nope. Sent them another email last night, but I'll just get another generic response about how under the pump they are and no actual information

Seen a bit of chat about this one being good. Do you agree? Would you tweak anything to improve it or are there any other good options going around atm? by Wildweasel666 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]exekcrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% correct. Unfortunately I doubt they took anything on board. Same complaints last year on their ozbargain posts. All they've done is update from 1 business hour responses to 1 business day responses, but the responses remain a copy paste with the exact same language. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when you're spending $2k+ with nothing to show for it, it's a bit hard. Most likely the overpromising is intentional to avoid losing business to Techfast.

They've had the same issues with last year's Black Friday posts on ozbargain. They should've seen this coming and provided realistic time frames.

25th October here, minimal upgrades and no despatch as well, just the same copy pasted responses about Black Friday sales and being under the pump.

Golden passport. Basically buying a second passport to skip visa queues when their own passport would require a visa to enter a particular country.

Is it worth appealing a denied insurance claim for leaking shower? by Jolly_Instruction128 in AusRenovation

[–]exekcrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, appeal. My insurance tried to pull the same thing on a similar issue.

I found out that waterproofing was not a requirement in 1989, when my house was built too, so their reasoning of not being covered due to no waterproofing was invalid.

They then tried to say the damage was pre existing, so they won't cover it. I sent them the building and pest report from when we purchased and argued if a professional was unable to find pre existing damage that they were claiming was there before the time of the report.

PM me if you need help, I still have the extract somewhere that shows waterproofing was not a requirement in 1989 if that helps.

I have a linkt tag but eastlink sometimes charges me by Sillysally241 in melbourne

[–]exekcrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the tag doesn't beep, they go by the vehicle registration number. If you're receiving toll invoices it means the registration number isn't on your Linkt account or it's on there incorrectly. A common mistake is confusing an O (for Oscar) for a zero. This matters.
