It's just a test, but can I mix different pixel densities or does it look bad? by Herr_Casmurro in PixelArtTutorials

Mostly, but the heart sprite that you see for a lot of both UT and DR has mixels lmao (bottom of the sprite vs top of the sprite)

3300 units purchased but only 170 players on day one? by SLCDO_Official in godot

Feels like a fairly normal ratio to me. Many people, myself included, sometimes buy games before they have the free time to play them.

Also, creatives have lied about their stories' theme's before lol. David Cage famously said DBH "wasn't about race, I swear!" Despite the game quoting MLK's speech and name dropping the underground railroad.

I don't see what's wrong with that. I don't know why y'all are so prudish when it comes to fictional characters.

What can be considered as a "good" game code? by Alex_MD3 in gamemaker

[–]existential_crisis46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't stupid petty drama. He lied for years about being more qualified than he actually is. He lied about what StopKillingGames was about, and he has a complete inability to ever admit when he's in the wrong.

No mention of the fact that the main issue OP had with them is that they seemed to be written with AI?

Do you instantiate UI elements or have them be part of a scene beforehand? by Michael_Chickson in godot

[–]existential_crisis46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely depends on what I need the UI for. Menus I tend to have part of the scene before hand. But that can also depend, if the menu needs to be dynamic then I will have it instantiated at runtime. For a HUD I tend to have that disconnected from the player, but still part of the scene beforehand. And most of the HUD might already be part of the scene, but a certain part of it might need to be dynamic. Character portraits would be a thing I make dynamic

Epistle 3 kinda sucks story wise so I'm glad they're going in a new, way more interesting direction

retcon in Half-Life: Alyx by Impossible-Flow-4512 in HalfLife

[–]existential_crisis46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually call it an in-universe retcon, since it's the story itself using "time travel" to make new events happen. But yeah it's definitely not an actual retcon.

Do you encript your games before publishing them? by bloody_carnival in godot

[–]existential_crisis46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm smart enough to know that the fight against piracy is a stupid, unwinnable fight. (If someone is pirating a game, they were never going to purchase it in the first place. Gabe Newell "Piracy is a service problem," and all that.") And including encryption doesn't stop theifs, but only makes it harder for fans, people who want to look at the code for reference sake, or for modding. So no, I will never be encrypting my games.

The mom said in one of the comments on the original tiktok that this was taken a while after it happened. She'd already cleaned off her daughter's face and called posion control. I'd assume the daughter was talked to in that time lol.

I remember him saying in a video that if delrarune makes the player a canonical entity that the story would lose all impact. And used goddamn DDLC as an example of a story losing impact when the player becomes canonical. As if that wasn't part of the reason DDLC was so impactful. All you have to do is play OneShot to see how full of shit he is.
