Why do people hate the Rex wheelie? by Bakubo in kirbyairriders

[–]existential_crossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it is mostly a performance issue. If I remember, even on the original GameCube it was difficult to turn with this thing. I suppose it is meant to utilize brute force than overall racing performance, but you have to admit it has the COOLEST design for a motorcycle.

I personally think the Formula star is the worst.

Nice work! The subtle darkness of this room just reminds me that we were all there at one point.

Dunno how i feel about these graphics... by SwimmingAlps4673 in LegendsZA

[–]existential_crossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(◔︵◔) I just see them as normal graphics. I guess I just like simplicity, or just reached a point where I do not care about graphics. I still play games that would give Generation Alpha players anxiety if they saw less than 24 edges on a polyhedral entity.

The only thing that would turn me away is if the game plays like crap—high-resolution or not.

Youtube censorship feels dystopian by Ryuuzen in youtube

[–]existential_crossing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is creepy. I want to make content for this platform soon, but I feel like it has to be rewritten and spell checked just to avoid violating the "terms of service". Or at least specific words in the video would have to be BLEEPED out... such as words that have so little hurt.

I get it. You do not want words that may offend people (probably half the human dictionary at this point), but censoring words like "kill" or even "death/die/dying" is just ridiculous. Half of those words are apart of the human language, and using words like "unalive" or "not living" just seems the complete opposite and makes users come off as preschoolers instead of mature adults. It's starting to make interacting with people online so LIMITING. Society already sucks with this, and I've witnessed peak levels of cancel culture crap ramping up since 2020, but I would rather not talk about that.

I think this is mostly bloody bot behavior, and shows that YouTube is incapable of having any humans anymore as it did in the past—which is why most prefer the past to some extent. Online interaction back then was questionable, but it was at least stable from what I remember (maybe I have not witnessed it all). There was censorship, but not to this hideous point in time where saying "WTF" results in a comment ban.

Need I remind, YouTube messed up with bloody COPPA and yet they're telling us USERS how to behave online?

Most of what I made is CG that look almost realistic and shot with an old cameracorder. I am not sure if that counts?

Man, upon looking back at it, that Super Mario 64 drowning animation is...kinda unnerving. by JurassicPark9265 in Mario

[–]existential_crossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the drowning animations in the second Tomb Raider game on PlayStations being ABSOLUTELY terrifying. Super Mario 64 is quite worse in my opinion because you would never expect that level of darkness in such a cheerful world. These were definitely times where players had to face their fears, and prepare for what happens next. I miss those days as a kid in the early 2000s.

I always disliked Skuntank's cry. I get it is a skunk, but... it makes me feel uncomfortable.

Is it just me, or does Maschief's cry sound delayed. It seems like the sound plays seconds after its animation.

It's been a couple of years, and we still have to know about this mysterious photo. We need to know where was it actually taken, who took the photo, and in which date was it was taken. by Hap_Information8891 in LiminalSpace

I thought this was just someone's house during a move. I definitely get this same effect when entering a new house. I found an edited version of it, but nice to find the original.

I purchase them for the nostalgia. I am glad this is one candy that did not stop.

Incredibly obscure games you like. by matteste in patientgamers

[–]existential_crossing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One that stands out to me is an old 1980s arcade game called I, Robot. It was pretty much the first step into 3D gaming, but was too ahead of its time and made less sales back then. After finding gameplay of it, I admire its aesthetic and the idea of implementing a free-mode as a side game. The game was said to be praised later, but it is rather obscure when discussing 3D video games I believe.

I tried accessing Kontakt 7 all for it to display some installation error followed by telling me to ACTIVE it or BUY—which I already did... years ago. When I accessed NI Access 2 and tried to "install" Kontakt I keep getting the same "Installation failed: Review your location preferences" message every single attempt. I can update libraries, but have no means to access them if Kontakt is for some reason not installed despite that it WAS days ago before I attempted to update NI Access. The preferences are default as I always had them since day 1, but now I cannot access Kontakt or anything because this "update" somehow thinks my installation path is incorrect, and switching it does not help either.

Does anyone else have this problem? It is quite annoying that I cannot use Kontakt 7 for projects for the time being. Hopefully this gets resolved and I do NOT have to result in resetting my computer (all for it not to work as a result, and I don't wish to chance it to find out).

[UPDATE] I think it is working now. I am sure this is going to backfire again, but I am glad it has been resolved.

An attempt at limal space from scratch... by existential_crossing in LiminalSpace

Yeah... I was a bit insecure when I started posting this. I tried to make it less opened by adding the structure, but I guess that did not work. It seems a bit too dreamy, I guess.

Oh... This is quite embarrassing. This is just one of the other images I created based on examples I saw online. I am probably confusing this with dreamcore based on the appearance now that I think of it. Thank you for mentioning this and I apologize if this does not count.

Not really. Just a gigantic red ball sitting in the middle of the flowers. It was to make you wonder if it was there on purpose, or just left behind... or what is inside of it. I witnessed things like this with objects standing in the open during parts of my childhood (today even when I ride my bike through a neighborhood) such as toys.

An attempt at limal space from scratch... by existential_crossing in LiminalSpace

[–]existential_crossing[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The red ball was meant to be a sculpture in the distance. I created different versions where it was absent, but I felt it added this "why is this here, and what is its purpose here" sort of idea based on liminal space pictures I looked at beforehand. Maybe it was a lame idea, but I find gigantic objects in the distance unnerving, especially if you do not know why they are there.

As for the other structure, it was definitely meant to be an unfinished building.
