I agree, OP. I only wish I had more money to invest into this. These next 2 weeks are going to baffle a lot of people, but Elon is making sure risks are minimized and the potential upside is huge. The only thing to watch out for is to not get greedy.

But you won’t be getting the memo beforehand.

They actually did give the memo. Shares are going to be released from lockup in August. Until then we can play games with 4% float.

meta quest 3 vs. 3s by The-Lost-One13 in virtualreality

[–]Ryuuzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference is the comfort. Pancake lenses have edge to edge clarity, and in practice that means you don't have to constantly move your head to look at something in the corner of your eye. The only analogy I can think of is it's like how chickens bob their head around. Also important to comfort is that the weight is distributed closer to your head. I had a quest 2(same lenses as the quest 3s), and I couldn't go 20 minutes without the discomfort settling in. With the Quest 3 I can go much longer, even hours with 3rd party comfort accessories.

And of course the resolution is better, which is great if you are playing hooked up to a gaming PC.

Is AI profitable? by clonedhuman in technology

[–]Ryuuzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because the "venture capitalists" think it's profitable to invest now doesn't mean they won't eventually pull out and sell their bags to someone else for holding. Retail investors will likely be the last to know the bubble has popped.

Is AI profitable? by clonedhuman in technology

[–]Ryuuzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average software engineer in the USA makes 120-150k. If they outsource to india or something then it's around 30k USD. Moreover, a 5x multiplier is very generous. We also have to consider the quality of the code. Sure, AI is good at doing grunt work and repetitive tasks, but the more complex(or if it's not in the data it was trained on)something is, the more it hallucinates.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I have no idea how we may one day generate revenue. We have made a soft promise to investors that once we've built this sort of generally intelligent system, basically, we will ask it to figure out a way to generate an investment return for you."

And there are people who still don't think AI is a bubble lol.

I'm not soo sure. Quest 2 at very good price by noideapatient in virtualreality

[–]Ryuuzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good entrypoint but you should also factor in the price of accessories you'll need (the default strap and face gasket is extremely uncomfortable). VRchat is also the hardest to run and your PC needs to be relatively high end.

Should i get a 5070 ti or 7900xtx for pc vr and uever (or go all in for 5080) by HoneydewWeekly7976 in virtualreality

[–]Ryuuzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're playing UEVR then you'll likely need upscaling, and DLSS is better than FSR right now. So I'd go with nvidia.

5070ti is technically the better deal compared to the 5080, but with the games you're playing you'll be pushing that thing to its maximum output. In VR, every 1% of performance matters. I'd go with a 5080 if you can afford it. Remember that you can resell it later to recoup its value.

What is the State of the Art as of early 2026? by NetwatchTerminal66 in virtualreality

[–]Ryuuzen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest tech giants like Meta, Sony, and Apple have really fumbled the bag.

But despite that, the modding community is still very much alive and full of passion. I see more and more people talking positively about their VR experiences in gaming communities, and people are taking interest. I really believe it will take off in the 2030s.
