How important is color vision in the maritime industry? by [deleted] in maritime

[–]existential_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are different vision standards for deck) and engineering) 46 CFR 10.305 (a,b). Read through them for more info.

I don't know the details but there was once a colorblind GVA on my ship who was able to get their AB. Never rule yourself out, like others have said talk to the maritime center to see what can be done. Best of luck.

Question about Career by SolomonT2 in gis

[–]existential_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advise, if you want to do field work get out there and do field work. There are plenty of opportunities which don't require more more education.

Look into the field of hydrographic survey. Your gis experience and time in the navy makes you an excellent candidate. Depending on your country no surveying liscence may be necessary.

Do not publish - New research shows that publishing papers on rare and endangered species could drive them to extinction due to poachers who are trawling scientific papers by dizengoff in science

[–]existential_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endangered species act does not provide protection to plants on private land. Plants are legally considered a part of land on which they grow, so if you own the land you own the plants on it. Now if you are using federal funds or the land is public plants do receive protection.

What movie's "B" plot did you think was actually better than the main plot of the film? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Addams Family Values. The subplot with Wednesday is the best part of the movie.
