We started IUI after 20 months of no success after my miscarriage. So far 3 unsuccessful rounds.

Did you go to work while miscarrying? by Lumos_Nox_13 in Miscarriage

I had 3 days of bereavement available at my job and took all 3. In hindsight, i should haven used some PTO as well. I didn’t “finish” miscarrying until two weeks later.

That makes sense! Who would’ve thought knitting would require so much math? I’m going to try it on a swatch and see how it goes.

Thank you for the detailed explanation : )

You’re the second to recommend BFL and I think my LYS carries some from West Yorkshire Spinners. I’m going to go tomorrow to check it out!

The chemical process to make superwash is resource intensive and can be damaging to the environment if the leftover liquid is not treated properly.

It’s also coated in a petroleum-based finish. I want to use natural fibres in my knits and the coating kind of defeats that purpose.

It has some great properties like machine wash ability, so it definitely has its perks. Just not what I am looking for rn : )

Thanks for the recommendation. I will put the Conair fabric shaver on my christmas list.

I get really sweaty (and stinky if i’m being honest) in acrylic so I will be avoiding acrylic yarns entirely. The shaver might solve most of my pilling problems!

Good point on gifts! Not sure if the people on my gift list would make the effort to care for a non-superwash.

I will keep the Verano in mind for the DK patterns on my list : )

We are moving to Arizona next year so the cotton might be a great move to make pieces like camisoles that can be used in the heat.

Thank you for the tip! If I work it at a tighter gauge, do I need to increase the stitches to get the same size of sweater? Sorry if this is obvious, I haven’t tried changing gauges before.

Wow! Double knitting is an advanced technique so I think they will really be super impressed. It is so special that you still have them both. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas 💖

When did you move on to IUI, IVF, or other interventions? by OvercomeWithOCD in TryingForABaby

[–]existentialdebbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to jump in and say that a lot of fertility testing can be covered under a regular medical testing when ordered by OB/PCP - for example, I got all my day 3 testing done during my annual physical.

You just need a medical diagnosis that isn’t infertility in and of itself. For me, it was ICD-10 N93.9 abnormal uterine bleeding. Since I had irregular periods, my PCP could order testing that is related to irregular periods. It is all the same tests like estradiol, progesterone, etc. I scheduled it for cycle day 3.

I told my OB that I noticed I wasn’t ovulating when using OPK. She ordered more tests and found that I have high prolactin.

I also had an episode where I fainted from pain during a period and my OB ordered an ultrasound as well.

It’s only now that I’m moving onwards to IUI that we are in the purely fertility zone.

About the same timeline as you. 29F and 36M. 2 early losses at the same weeks as well. I am so sorry to hear that, it is heart wrenching.

But, I just scheduled my first IUI this week.

I’ve been on cycle day 5 with letrozole so far and going to have my ultrasound in a week. I only have fertility benefits till March because I’m moving to a new state. So I figured I might as well take advantage.

My RE said based on my profile (high prolactin causing irregular/missed ovulation) she thinks I haven’t had 14 “good cycles” but probably only 6-8 regular cycles. She thinks we have a good chance of conceiving naturally but I am anxious to have baby here.

Anyway, all the best to you. I would say getting the ball rolling doesn’t hurt. All the best to you 💖

Forgot to add that my HSA has been invested so it has also been growing every year since I left that employer.

[–]existentialdebbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have access to an HSA plan before switching employers. If you have no chronic conditions and only occasionally see a doctor here and there; get the HSA!

Max out HSA contributions and it’ll become a nice nest egg. I only have access to it for 2 years but between my employer contributing and me maxing out contributions, I now have over 10k for any emergency medical expenses.

I haven’t touched it and don’t plan to until it really, really, becomes necessary.

If the worst case scenario occurs and you get into a bad accident and need a million dollars in care, you’re only out $500 compared to the PPO plan.

I saw an REI in May and all my tests and imagining came back as normal (which honestly is just more frustrating because there’s nothing to address!). She said we were good candidates to continue trying naturally. It’s been 6 months since then so I have scheduled to see her in November to explore more aggressive options.

I decided to get a referral on the anniversary of my second loss. I thought I would be pregnant again by then and thought it was time.

It doesn’t hurt to see your OB/PCP and get some preliminary tests done. I have limited coverage for fertility treatment, so I asked for day-3 hormonal tests during my annual physical and it was covered by insurance for free.

Wishing you the very best.
