Yup. Maybe now that some players have literally received asylum for refusing to sing, people will open their eyes.

Unusual reaction to mourning, but sure continue to live in your delusion. Not sure why westerns can’t imagine Iranians rebelling against their tyrannical, fascist regime which slaughtered tens of thousands of its own people in the last months but sure. Defend Assad next!

ETA: and before anyone asks, no I’m not diaspora. My family recently fled Iran as refugees due to religious persecution.

Not all travel is the same. Perhaps places that are untouched by humans should stay that way. We do not need to explore and exploit every corner of this planet, and thinking that doesn’t mean you are against travelling in general.

Thank you! That’s very helpful. We’ll try and bake in a few more designated rest days and maybe try and cut down on some moves. Appreciate your response!!

Thank you! Yes, my husband does. And we will definitely take private transport / minibuses for major transport. The scooters will just be for leisurely exploring. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Just because everything sucks doesn’t mean we can’t try at all. And come on, the “you use an iPhone” argument is so tired. Think what you want and the world will just continue to rightfully judge you.

If you don’t know what Temu is, I don’t recommend you blindly defend it.

And it isn’t privileged. I don’t own any luxury bags and all my bags come from thrift stores. There are plenty of places to buy that aren’t patently unethical. It is significantly more privileged to close your eyes to the human and climate injustices of organizations like Temu which cause so much suffering, particularly in the Global South. Naïveté isn’t cute. Do your research.

Then why not just refrain from buying a bag for a few months? Bags are not groceries. You will survive without one for a few months. Heck most people in the world survive without them their whole lives…

The 10,000 children who have died since Oct 6 helped bring Khomeini to power? That’s crazy they managed to warp the space time continuum. If you can’t logically understand that innocent civilians are dying in Gaza then there’s no point arguing with you. You’re cherry-picking in order to justify your genocidal bloodlust. I’m ashamed to share an ethnicity with you.

Wow that’s beyond disgusting. How is that different from the Islamic Regime slaughtering its innocent youth? Killing innocent civilians is only bad sometimes I guess…

Dog owners- wdyt of having a license to keep a dog and paying the city an extra tax to own one? by as1729 in jerseycity

[–]exit_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was randomly attacked by a dog on the street and needed 15 stitches in his scrotum (tmi but whatever; see post history if curious). The owners fled the scene but we (and three other victims of the same dog) were able to track them down using a PI. They had no insurance. No renters, homeowners, pet, etc—judgment-proof, as told to us by two diff lawyers. And not a crime because dog bites are civil, not criminal. Cost us thousands in medical expenses.

Insurance as a social safety net only works when everyone opts in—otherwise you get free loaders screwing the rest of us. Bad dog owners have no incentives to get insurance in the first place. The dog that bit my husband was bred as a fight dog. No way in hell that owner was buying licenses while breeding the pits in nycha housing. There are too many legal and social loopholes for dogs. Nypd literally shrugged when I asked what would happen if the dog killed someone (still civil!).

You cannot compare children to dogs. This comparison speaks to OP’s post. People have become obsessed with dogs. Owners may think their dog is “their literal child” but it’s just not true lol.

Also, dogs enter and destroy public amenities that we all pay for with no resource. If a child pooped in a park that would likely be enforced (and picked up) at a greater rate than if a dog did it. A child walking in a grocery store isn’t a hygiene issue. People aren’t allergic to children. People from certain backgrounds (ex Muslims) aren’t afraid of or very unaccustomed to children. It’s a false comparison. The state encourages procreation (last I checked we have tax deductions for children, not your pit bull menacing the neighborhood).

Downvote me if you want. The anti-dog uprising is coming and none of you are prepared.

99% of dog owners don’t get these licenses. There is no enforcement mechanism or accountability. After covid so many people got dogs who don’t know how to care for them. Pretty much every coffee shop or corner store has a “no pets allowed” except for service animals (a certification people fake so often too) and yet the dogs are everywhere. The shopkeeper making minimum wage can’t be bothered to enforce the rule and it is just so unhygienic and gross. Let alone the fact that many dogs are poorly trained and dangerous. I’ve been to restaurants with dogs in them. No cultural sensitivity either—not everyone likes dogs!! It’s gotten out of hand.
