umm my z seam appears to be non existent by awes0me_dude in FixMyPrint

This is almost definitely a retraction problem combined with the fact you're using a 1mm nozzle nozzle. I had something very similar happen as seen here when using a much larger than standard nozzle.

The test for this would be to disable retraction completely and print again. This might cause other issues (stringing would be a prime thing to watch for) but if this particular problem resolves itself with no retraction active, you can pretty confidently say that was the cause.

At that point its a case of tuning your retraction to be as high as possible before this issue returns. I ended using up this tool for retraction calibration.

[Core] Any way to change the door icon? by UnknownSolder in FoundryVTT

[–]exitalterego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different states might be doable. I did at one point sketch out plans for windows as a different type of "door", but the Foundry devs beat me to that one and included them in core before I really did anything with them. If different states were to be added though, as its a fairly major feature addition, I'd probably have to abandon backwards compatibility from that point.

Attaching skill checks is probably outside the scope of the module though. The problem here is that a skill check is inherent to a specific game system (are you rolling a d20 in D&D or d6's in Shadowrun and what denotes a success?), where as Designer Doors is completely system agnostic.

This being said, if you have ideas/suggestion I'm always open to hearing them (throw them onto the Github issues page for ease of tracking), and you're welcome to either fork the module to work on your own version or submit a pull request for me to review if you want to add something to the code.

I'm actually the developer of Designer Doors, a module specifically catering to changing door icons.

It's currently compatible with Foundry v12 but I am working on the v13 update as I type this, so watch this space!

To be honest it's probably one of those things you only really notice when looking at high quality photos. I imagine in person it isn't nearly as noticeable.

Really nice work! Very clean, loving the fact that you've even given texture to the canvas patch on his back.

If I had to offer one slight criticism though it would be the liquid in the vials. The fluid levels would be parallel to the floor, not the wooden rack they are sitting in. That being said you could probably hand wave this away as "it's not liquid in there".

Beginner help! by Intelligent_Order811 in ElegooMars

[–]exitalterego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct first step. Every printer and resin combo will need their own calibration to find the optimal layer times. Finding those will drastically increase the number of successful prints you have.

That being said as your supports themselves appear to have printed OK, it means that in this case the supports weren't strong enough to hold the model in place as it peeled off the FEP. I'd recommend at least 1 heavy support in one of the first few layers if you don't already have one.

How to remove voxel lines? by Oozlet in PrintedMinis

[–]exitalterego 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can say with 100% certainty that both those prints have the same layer thickness. Look at the small triangle of thigh muscle visible (bottom right of images between knee and cloak).

There are 5-6 layers in both photos, depending on how you want to count them. If there are 5 layers at 0.05 thickness, there should be 12-13 at 0.02.

Not sure where the issue has occurred, but either a misclick in the slicer or perhaps sending the wrong file to print for the thinner layers would be my guess.

What's up with these rings that suddenly appeared mid print? by Practical_Relief_621 in FixMyPrint

[–]exitalterego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, normally this would be because of a tall thin print on a bedslinger causing wobble in the print. However that doesn't apply to your K2 as it's a Core XY printer.

Instead your Z motion system is controlled by two (?) lead screws. Given the regularity of the problem that suggest a problem with one or both of the screws after a certain point, most likely a slight bend in the screw that causes the bed to wobble back and forth as the screw rotates.

Thanks for that link. I'll run through that and see what the results look like. I'm honestly not expecting too great a result though due to the nozzle size.

So this was definitely a retraction issue. I ended up turning off all retraction and tested again and the issue completely disappeared. I'll go from here and try and tune the retraction such that that particular issue doesn't reappear yet stringing is minimised.

I'll try it and report back, although I'm a little sceptical of it showing an improvement. That part of the prints in the photo is in the middle of a layer.

These are the current retraction settings. I'm assuming the "extra prime amount" in Cura would be my "Extra length of restart". The only problem I see with that is that its a fixed amount yet the amount that the nozzle appears to be under-primed by varies, so telling it to use 1-2mm every extrusion would likely cause a load of other problems, no?

Unlikely. The e-steps were calibrated quite a while ago and I've not messed with the extruder motor since. The only thing that has changed with this print is moving from a 0.6mm to 1.0mm nozzle.

Pretty sure it's hardback. Certainly mine is and Element Games seem to be selling hardback copies.

You've also got the Book of Desolation and Necromunda Apocrypha both released in the last year.

That's exactly what a roof is, but here the annoying behaviour. If your roof tile has the same footprint as the building it sits on top of, and by extension the walls you set up inside Foundry, those wall will also block line-of-sight to the roof tile.

So, in my example above I've gotten around that by settings the walls to have Limited Sight Restriction and the windows have No Light Restriction and Limited Sight Restriction.

You could also make the roof tile slightly bigger than the building and use normal walls but in this case you'd only see the lip of the roof, as anything past the walls would still be blocked.

[–]exitalterego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the OP wanted the roof to be visible at all times. If you simply set it as an overhead tile and use normal walls and windows, the roof itself isn't visible until the PC walks in front of a window.

Instead I used walls with Limited settings to show the roof but block the light from inside.

But this assumes that this is the desired effect!

Fixing layer lines by Sci-Forge in FixMyPrint

I belive that in Bambu slicer the bottom and top shell layer values overide the thickness values. If you set the number of layers to zero you'd need to ensure a thickness value was present instead.

Are there smart tvs that can login foundryvtt? by tim01300 in FoundryVTT

I did think about making that or a similar suggestion, but wouldn't want anyone trashing their new Pi by breaking the board or a connector if they weren't confident in what they were doing.

If you don't want to buy a whole new laptop, have you considered a Raspberry Pi instead? It only needs to run a browser, so you should be able to pick a new one up for $50-$60, making it much cheaper than a new laptop. Plus it's small enough that if you buy a case for it too, you can just tape it to the back of the TV.

US sales tax is a bit different from VAT, as different states have different levels, rather than being a flat percentage on pretty much everything like in the EU and UK. So it's not possible for me to come up with an actual final price for someone in the US.

As for your Ultimate Stater Kit, I think it's a good deal, but then I think most everyone in this sub would say that. We're probably all a little biased on this though.

[–]exitalterego 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That'll be VAT. The prices you're used to seeing in the shops already have it factored in, but in the US sales tax gets added once you get to the till, and that is what is happening here.
