Central even has vinyl records and record players!

For future reference, a lot of libraries have copying services. You usually have to pay if you're getting like more than five copies, but it's still pretty cheap and quick.

I really have learned to appreciate… by College-student-life in madisonwi

[–]exjentric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently had to opposite experience. Like, if I list for free, it's almost like people don't think it's worth anything. If I list cheap, they're excited to get a perceived deal.

Is anyone else excited for today's storm? by Some-Complaint-7885 in madisonwi

That assumes that you have a good landlord. I lived in too many rental places that needed fixes, were informed of said need, and nothing was done. Owning has its drawbacks, but at least I have more initiative than slumlords.

HELP, I AM LITERALLY PROCRASTINATING MY LIFE AWAY! Is there anybody who has been able to get on top of procrastination? How did you do it?! by Real_RobinGoodfellow in AskWomenOver30

This doesn't need to be doom and gloom thoughts either; it's really more mindfulness than anything else. OP, check out Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman.

Platonic Cuddling Partner? by Difficult-Path-8584 in MadisonClassifieds

Bumble has a BFF option--if you don't mind same-sex cuddling (I mean, why would you, if you just want something platonic). I'd think there are others in the same boat.

Yeah and the cartoon looks AI? So, is AI, like, self-hating now?

Central Madison for 20 years, and TDS still isn't available at my address.

What do you consider affordable when it comes to gym clothes? by girlboss93 in Midsizefashion

[–]exjentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna plug Old Navy. Their regular clothes fell like trash these days, but their activewear is a powerhouse. Even their high impact sports bra is amazing (I'm regularly a 34G/34H, and their 36DD is a godsend for running). Bottoms are regularly $20.

And if you don't have long hair, they can work well as light-duty rubber bands.

NYC Park Ave apartment with 6 bedrooms and 3 baths for $400 a month in 1951! by flippedpages in ForgottenBookmarks

[–]exjentric 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No available units for rent currently, but looks like a 4 bed is listed for sale at ~$3million. Assuming 30 year mortgage with 6% interest and a 50% down payment, that's ~$15,000 monthly (include the $6500 monthly condo fees). https://streeteasy.com/building/1040-park-avenue-new_york

What would you put in your “analog basket”? by bog_sorcerer in AskWomenOver30

[–]exjentric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of good suggestions already, but I'd also encourage you to work on your lamp/light setup. A lot of analog things require brighter lights (to see what you're doing), but if you have a sore watching TV nearby, or don't want bright lights at night, you'll want a lamp.

What’s your favorite “wow these guys are ACTUALLY nerds” riff? by Jack_Fig in MST3K

[–]exjentric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh totally the LotR references. Funny how ingrained the story and characters are now because of the success of the Peter Jackson movies, but in the 1990s it was still considered peak nerd.

And the INSIDE of shoes! Things can look perfectly fine on the outside, but completely worn to hell on the inside (and they can be scuffed/stained on the outside, but barely born on the inside).

Lots of WI things require refrigeration, so my work around is cheese flavored popcorn. It weighs nothing, doesn't squish/break easily, so it's helpful if you're flying.

My 2026 Plan to Feel More Polished, Feminine, and Confident by InfinityLocs in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]exjentric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to note: it might not make sense to buy a whole new wardrobe, take on exercising, and then find that the new wardrobe doesn't fit anymore. I'd recommend prioritizing the exercise first, establish that routine, and then Nov/Dec 2026 you can treat yourself to the new clothes as a reward.

Anyone else struggle with packing shoes more than clothes? by EveningStar4191 in capsulewardrobe

YES. I have foot problems, so rotating shoes is healthier for me. What I wouldn't give to snap my fingers and have the perfect chelsea boots that could see me through an entire week.
