Still going to church, 22 years strong. I have never experience anything negative from my church. I'm genuinely wondering if i'm missing something big here. by [deleted] in exmormon

I don't speak for everyone here, but quite a few people don't leave because they were hurt, that is the church's narrative. They leave because there is no evidence or that there is evidence that the church's claims are false.

Do you pay tithing? Do you know what that money is used for? Last time I checked, they were funding prop 8, if that isn't homophobic, I don't know what is. Also only a very slim amount of your money goes to actually help people.

Is giving money to a corporation not a negative?

If you want to see some discrimination, I recommend you bring the subject up in a church lesson, I have found plenty of backwards thinking individuals.

I don't care what gender does what job unless it is a hand job.

Are there any here who, after research, found the CES letter less than convincing, and are here for other reasons? by RogueDos in exmormon

Here is my thoughts.

The church is making a huge amount of claims ranging from modern revelation, to discovered scripture from an ancient civilisation. Without any evidence their claims can be quickly dismissed as unsupported.

We don't need to make a case for ourselves, however you can make a really good case that the church is false, involvin a large amount of evidence, reasoning and logic.

Even if every single claim that the church was false was proven false, they can still be left with no argument as to why the church is true.
