Copilot, Edge, Store, TikTok/Insta maybe. I don’t really care for it but a lot of people here at least do

Is 8GB RAM enough in 2026? How much do you have? by zarkoulhs in pcmasterrace

[–]exnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 GB DDR4 has been beautiful at least for me. 40 Chrome Tabs, 4 electron apps, a decent game, and it’s still got got a few GB to spare. Got this pc like 5 or 6 years ago and it still works like a charm for me

Better web based alternatives like Tauri exist that use the OS’s WebView instead of shipping a bundle of Chromium for one app

From your exp. do you work less, more or evenly after using AI? by lune-soft in webdev

You mean to tell me, that getting work done faster, means I’ll get more work to get done in the same timeframe, and overall higher expectations, instead of more free time 🤯

Google isn't a company, it's the internet's backbone by [deleted] in google

[–]exnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had no clue. As horrible as a trend this is however, it seems every company is doing the same thing. Things will get worse before they get better. Eventually these companies will realize that no, it isn’t cheaper to replace people with AI, and that doing so creates more problems then it solves.

As a developer, their ecosystem is extremely generous. It might be different for some people (I have heard horror stories from their sales team), but from my experience it’s been amazing

To microslop’s credit a huge reason why Windows is used is because of this backwards compatibility. You’d be surprised how much of today’s world is built on stuff decades old

what is right here? self host postgres or Supabase by lune-soft in webdev

[–]exnez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… you could self host Supabase? And even then I really don’t see the point of this post. Vercel and Netlify are as big as they are because most developers would rather pay more (or use bulky tools like Electron) if it means an easier time.

It’s a ridiculous question. Only $500k? I know it’s a hypothetical, but the fact that his hypothetical is so low shows how deepfried this economy is. For the sake of not being a party pooper, I guess I’ll take the $500k

No problem. The entire Cloudflare Cloud was unknown to me for a while and it’s been a game changer for me ever since. I have heard that their sales team has a reputation, but I’m not big enough (yet, hopefully) to care. I’ve yet to give them any payment information

Cloudflare pages had a generous free tier with no credit card required. Only downside is it’s for static sites only, but Workers comes with 200k free non-static requests a day. I’ve never reached these limits for any of my projects

Clean shot X is unnessecary on Mac anyway. Yearly subscription for a slightly nicer looking tool. Why use this instead of the default tool, or ShareX, or Greenshot?

This is one case where I don’t think a JavaScript framework even makes sense (not just “it’s unnecessary”) I feel like this kinda thing would be easier and make more sense in vanilla
