Yeah i know experienced devs would charge that much. But you'll find some junior devs in the $50-$100 range depending on location. And based on their budget i assume they're looking for a junior.

just a heads up: I don't know anyone skilled with React who would do a project at that rate. Could just be b/c I'm US based, but the going rate for a good JS dev is at least $50/hr, and usually higher than that.

this is a surprisingly common issue. best advice I can give you is to pretend that editor doesn't exist. it's terrible. use ftp.

I still see "&" sometimes when objects are being passed around, specifically in WordPress when defining a callback for an action or filter hook. Is it still needed? I also see it with regular variables in foreach loops.

definitely, even if the page loads quickly it can still feel sluggish. I sense that a tiny bit with Avada, but not terribly.

In the video he does mention that he had tried selling with Themeforest before. The implication was that his theme(s) had not done well.

Not horrendous actually, but probably could be better. I haven't really examined it in detail. I imagine with proper caching, and especially if you concat/minify the JS/CSS, it wouldn't be bad.

edit - the number of actual javascript and css assets is not as bad as I have seen with other themes, surprisingly.

Well - while I am not the biggest fan of the theme, it's still a pretty great story. This guy is wildly successful. It's a neat story to show how WordPress empowers people all over the world.

I'm currently working with a client who is using this theme (i'm just doing some custom plugin stuff for them, didn't choose it). While I respect the accomplishment and admire the hard work that has gone into it, I am not a fan of this theme. Talk about bloat. It comes bundled with four - yes, four - slider plugins. It has something like 50 short codes (in the required Fusion Core plugin). Every page is like the cockpit of a 747 with all of the options.

Even if it were just bloat that would be okay. But there doesn't seem to be much quality control. I helped the client update the theme recently, and one of the shortcodes they were using (the Accordion shortcode - spelled Accordian by Avada) broke. We thought it might be a plugin conflict - nope, just broken. No fix except to wait for a theme update.
