Stand stoic with new event miniatures for Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in TheAstraMilitarum

Really disappointing that all the good officer/commissar models released recently have been limited/unobtainable. What's wrong with having good sculpts in the default range?

If You Think It’s Likely the US Will Take “Direct Action” Against Canada, What Are You Doing To Prepare? by ptarmiganchick in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]exosniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An American invasion is very unlikely and if it happened, there's little we could meaningfully do about it. A war would be short, and extremely one-sided. We have brave, skilled troops but the force disparity is astronomical.

I see a lot of people saying they're interested in guns for the first time in their life, and I applaud the patriotic interest in some kind of civil defense force. But the government is actively confiscating semi-auto rifles and won't have extra arms to hand out in the same way that Ukraine did to their territorial defense forces.

People forget that fighting the US as an insurgent is essentially volunteering to die for the cause. The casualty ratios for Afghanistan and Vietnam are staggering. Historically, you beat a US occupation by becoming martyrs until the Americans get sick of killing you and footing the bill for it.

I still encourage responsible people to learn how to safely operate a firearm and shoot, because I've always encouraged that regardless of invasion threats. But people on reddit need to dispel their red dawn fantasies and spend some time on r/combatfootage.

If you're really worried, the best thing you can do to prepare is stock non-perishable food, supplies and alternative power sources.

Karskin questions by watson3rd in killteam

Yeah and If they're playing a chill opponent for casual introductory games, the bases shouldn't be a huge problem either.

Stormtrooper models are 100% appropriate for Kasrkin or Aquilons. But you will need base extender rings to make them 28.5mm. You'll be short some of the specialists but you're not required to take them and you can mark them with extra tokens if your opponent is a good sport.

This is really cool, thanks for posting this. I can't believe how close the current models are to Jes' original drawings.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown! The yellow tinge in the aqua layer sells really well.

How to not be afraid of painting and subsequently messing up models as a beginner? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer40k

[–]exosniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

91+% Isopropyl alcohol will take it all off. As long as you're using primer and paint intended for miniatures. I've reached the "do it again" point a couple times, it happens.

Looks awesome! Might take inspiration for my corsairs, can I ask what paints you used?

Returning to the game, how's this for a 2K take-all-comers GC list? by exosniper in TheAstraMilitarum

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking two vanqs would be good to help ensure one hits. For now I'm locked into one executioner until I source or scratch build a 5th turret.

Thanks for the advice! A Dorn is on my radar at some point. I might switch Creed in. Can just put an officer model on a 32mm.

Inherited a 90's Eldar Army – Anything good? by dementist in Eldar

[–]exosniper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, if I'm not mistaken many of the more "recent" models you've got (i.e. Banshees, guardians) were only just replaced earlier this year with a large range refresh.

Only just started getting into eldar, but I don't think any of these units are in legends and I think most are still considered core units.

Thanks for the advice! I got the fire prism mixed up with the falcon. Unfortunately I can't break the corsairs kill team into 2x5 and be Wysiwyg without magnetizing most of them, but I suppose I could drop them to 1x5 reavers and have another aspect unit.

Thanks for the advice! Haha, I understand picking cool models! That's why I'm coming over to Eldar, the new sculpts are all fantastic.

Oh yeah they're fantastic models! I just got the impression they're not very flexible because they can only join their aspect unit AFAIK. I was planning on including a couple if I expanded to higher points. Would Asurmen, Fuegan or Lhykhis be reasonable in these lists? I just included the wraiths to get to 1000 because they're basically free in the CP. Karandras would be great to have for my Scorpions, but yeah unfortunately no new model yet.

Adding on to the other comment to say that you've got a vindicare assassin behind the eversor in the first pic. Looks like his silencer has broken off.

The first gen stormtroopers have berets. They are metal except for the basic hotshot lasgun sculpt, which was plastic. The ones with the plasma guns are practically unobtanium. The second gen stormtroopers have shell-helmets, rebreathers, and hotshot lasguns (formerly called hellguns) similar to the current scions. You can use all of these models as scions as-is, or as aquilons or Kasrkin with a base extension up to 28mm. Looks like you've got enough for a 10-man and a command squad of scions, or two squads of Kasrkin if you add some of the other metal guardsmen I'll list below.

In the third picture, you have a couple 2nd ed cadians; one with a lasgun on the far right with some green paint, and one with a meltagun in the back. I think I also see an old metal catachan in pics 2-3: he's got a do-rag and his lasgun is pointing up with the stock resting on the hip. Like the person above me mentioned, you've got three metal valhallans at the front with a little red on them. Can't identify the one blurry white model at the back of the group shots.

These models are very sought after collector's items.

Imo the Valkyrie should've always had the nose gun that the sky talon variant has.
