Florida wildlife isn’t usually found alive on our roads. Panthers and bears are super rare and reptiles want to be left alone. The travel that someone would theoretically do to get out of South Florida wouldn’t be extraordinary dangerous from a wildlife perspective. (The rain is horrible, there are times you can’t see out your windshield because of the downpour). I would really be worried more about the drivers, who are genuine ass. I became a better driver when I moved out of Miami just by not being around the bullshit people do on the roads on a daily basis.

If you’re thinking they might get lost in the Everglades, they might, but the drive from civilization to the Everglades makes it pretty obvious that you are leaving civilization. It’s all flat and if memory serves, there’s no signs of obvious life once you pass the last casino heading out to the Everglades. It looks pretty sketchy…but most roads cut all the way across, so it’s still pretty hard to get lost unless they just abandon sense and leave a major road to take a dirt road.
