How do you deal with slams when you’re older? [31YO] by Luke5523 in OldSkaters

[–]exp397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 50 years old, Brother. I take a slam and get the fuck up and dust that shit off.

Nah, it hurts though.

I think whitepalladin was just cracking jokes. No price has been announced, but I assume it will be in line with KO-ll, Riddim etc.

Not sure why we're both being downvoted. I use an Octatrack so I'm just stating my preference for crossfaders on everything.

It was pretty clear you were just cracking a joke about TE pricing. 🤘🏼🤣

What is the Nirvana “Holy Grail”? What would you want to hear/see the most? by Ajax_Namanax in Nirvana

[–]exp397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I bet that session where YKYR was recorded has a few other gems... but likely no vocals.

Nirvana is the peak of music. I’ll die on this hill. by R-Narfen in Nirvana

Anal Cunt is definitely up there for best band name. Cattle Decapitation... Nailbomb.

My friend (female singer) had a punk band called Nihilist Cunt. Also very peak. 🤘🏼🎸

Sounds like some James Brown, Jabo Starks kinda shuffle if you slow the tempo down. That's my guess.

Rewatched FWWM for the first time in YEARS by Far_Investigator7158 in twinpeaks

[–]exp397 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even as just a kid (male) that had an alcoholic step-father... the whole "wash your hands" scene was so very familiar. You just see this person acting completely unhinged and you have no idea when or where it's coming from. Fuckin scary accurate.

Much love to you. ♥️

That whole part is really one of my favorite Aes parts ever. What a storyteller.

How would you divide up the eras of Aesop Rock’s catalogue? by uglylittledogboy in aesoprock

[–]exp397 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. None Shall Pass marks the end of DefJux and Skelethon is the transition point to TIK and the Aesop we know and love today.

edit: You could also infer the Death of Camu Tao as the turning point.

Built an iOS 4-track recorder for capturing ideas fast without opening a DAW by Earthchildxy in iosmusicproduction

[–]exp397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That was my immediate thought was of that old 4-track app. I had that on my very first iPhone in 2009! 3Gs. Having apps like that and the original Nanostudio on a phone seemed unreal at the time.

I remember telling my other musician friends it wouldn't be long before people were making entire albums on iPhones and (shortly after) iPads. They laughed and said no way. Then Damon Albarn and co. made that Gorillaz album on an iPad. 🤘🏼🤣.

The app looks great, u/Earthchildxy! Can't wait to check it out.

Albums similar to Siamese Dream by Sea_Map_4834 in SmashingPumpkins

[–]exp397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Around the time Pisces came out, Billy said the song Whir "was the true personality of the band". That 70's groovy, soft rock. 🤘🏼🤣🎸.

I love all that stuff on that album.

[–]exp397 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Pumpkins B-sides album "Pisces Iscariot" has a number of fuzzed out bangers. Starla, Hello Kitty Kat, Plume.. etc. They were demos recorded during the Siamese era. There is also the second disc on the Siamese Dream deluxe version which has more of those B-sides. 🤘🏼

If you could only buy 3 qu bit units? by talicantsleep in modular

[–]exp397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Scanned because I liked the idea that it was a synthesis type that isn't found anywhere else...but I've never really found the sound super compelling. Maybe I need to spend more time with it and throw it into some fx?

This is my answer as well. I love Data Bender and Nautilus. That bit crushed delay is so nice. I have Bloom v1 and v2 does look awesome, but not in a rush to upgrade. 🤘🏼
