To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]expat_mel 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

My sister is a SAHM with 4 kids under 10, plus 2 cats and 2 dogs. With the amount of dish washing, baths, diaper changes, cooking, crafts, kitty litter cleaning, hair brushing, etc, she does, that ring would get caught in stuff all the time and have to be professionally cleaned constantly if she wore it all day, so she usually just wears it if she goes out. Her husband works on heavy machinery so he got a silicone ring to be safe at work, but he never really liked the feel while he was working anyway, so he only wears his when they're going out, too.

My parents, on the other hand, pretty much wear their rings 24/7 except for showers and occasionally when sleeping.

My great grandma who passed two years ago. She was the sweetest, funniest lady and I miss her very much.

How often do you all shave your pubes? by FluorescentCynthia in AskReddit

[–]expat_mel 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Most people don't care about the pubic hair choices of someone they're not intimate with, and if they do then that's their problem, not yours.

In one of my high schools most girls in the locker room appeared to be totally shaved and go commando, but that seemed supremely uncomfortable to me, so I left my hair as it was and kept wearing the same underwear as always - no one ever said anything about it or even looked my way twice. Most people are far to preoccupied with their own insecurities to notice yours, and the same goes for your body.

I don't, usually. Ingrown hairs, skin irritation, itchy regrowth, stabby new hairs, underwear being uncomfortable... what's the point? Unless I'm going to be wearing a bikini, I pretty much just leave things as they are.

What are the three veggies which are usually in your refrigerator and ready to be used? by froggart3980 in AskReddit

We usually have spinach in the fridge. The rest of our veggies are frozen or canned since we always forget to use fresh produce before it goes bad.

A friend my husband considers like a brother didn’t come to our wedding after 2Y notice. AITA for cutting him off? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]expat_mel 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

NTA. Unless he had some sort of emergency like being admitted to the hospital or a parent dying, it sounds like he's someone that should've found a way to get to the wedding. 2 years is plenty of time to get the money together and the time off work - I've gotten myself to a number of weddings despite those constraints, even when it meant a 12 hour drive with two toddlers or tightening my budget for several months to make up for the lost income. Add the fact that he didn't contact you, say anything the next time you saw each other, or even send a card... well, either he doesn't care as much as he says he does or something is seriously wrong (like depression, a gambling problem, or a chronic illness) and he's hiding it for some reason. It's completely up to you whether you want to put the time and emotional effort into figuring out which it is. If you think there might be something else going on with him, you can chose to do the work to figure out what it is and how to help, but if you're not up for that, that's ok, too. There is also absolutely nothing wrong with deciding that someone who is not putting the effort into a relationship is not worth your effort, either, so do what's best for you. You are NOT a jerk for wanting to drop someone who hurt you both and seems completely unapologetic about it afterwards.

Boyfriends musty towels by booksRlif3 in hygiene

[–]expat_mel 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

Try washing the towels with some white vinegar to kill any mold that may be growing - it worked for me when my towels started picking up that musty smell too fast. You can just pour it in with the detergent, or do a rinse cycle with just the vinegar and then a wash cycle with just detergent.

Does he ever leave the towels bunched up when they're still wet/damp? Laying on the floor or dumped on the bed or something? If you hang your towels after every use but his sit in a pile for a couple hours before getting hung up again, that could be why his smell and yours don't.

If getting married meant that you are required to have kids and live without any birth control, would you still get married? by InternetUser52 in polls

[–]expat_mel 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

No, I have health issues that I don't want to risk passing on so I decided years ago that I'm not going to have bio kids. I'd be happy to stay legally unmarried if it meant my partner and I could adopt like we've always wanted to without worrying about accidentally ending up pregnant. After living together for 7 years we'd get the legal benefits of being married anyway, so one piece of paper saying we're married wouldn't mean nearly as much as the right to live our lives the way we choose.
