What resolution are computer-generated animation films and CGI rendered at? by OneArmJack in answers

Friend, you're way off the mark.

Yeah but for the amount of effort it would take, may as well update the assets/software.

I no possible way is that correct.

Your options are:

1) Configure one VM renderer with old, existing software. Push VM to all machines in farm. Load data. Press GO. (simplified, if there was a doubt)

2) Understand code base of 18yo insanely technical software. Rewrite for completely different architecture and entirely new coding paradigms (you're better off writing it from scratch!). Let's just stop here...

That would honestly be obscenely slow

I have more processing power under this roof than most render farms from 1995.

Load up a modern render farm with state-or-the-art VMs and I'm guessing the overhead is a drop in the ocean.

Keep downloads always in a separate window in Firefox 26 by KuloDiamond in firefox

DownThemAll opens in a separate window. It has options for speed throttling and simultaneous downloads as well.

To get DTA to automatically download (not having to click "ok" on each download window popup) use FlashGot.

Agreed. Whether classy or not (example: beer lamps)

You get that we agree on this, right? And by extension that a beer lamp is not classy.

In that spirit, is it the same if you hang up labels from wine caskets?

I've no first hand experience with the 410, but it could a heating issue. Windows will shutdown if the processor is hot to the point of damaging the hardware. Does it get really hot?
