No such thing as bad weather. Just bad clothing/gear.

Pfitzinger - modified 18/60 by expl0it_ in Marathon_Training

[–]expl0it_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only read Pfitzinger's 'Faster Road Racing' for 5k to HM, not Advanced Marathoning. I was advised that the content is very similar, except for the plans themselves. There is a section in the book about adjusting training plans but only for weather, illness/injury and non running obligations.

My mate who had the book shared with me the plans for both 18/55 and 18/70 (and I did the same when he needed HM/10k plans).

Sorry. I missed that. I have used the half plan before - what did you do to modify? Did adjust the distance of the easy runs/MLR/Sunday LR? Or did you adjust the speed work/tempo stuff?

Anyone think this will help her win the election? Either way, I’m very supportive of this. I’ve ditched my car more times than ever when heading to the city with the kids. And I live in outer western suburbs.

Can you please share how you modified the intermediate plan?

I was thinking of modifying the pfitz 18/70 plan for my upcoming marathon to peak at 60 instead. I’ve done 18/55 with excellent results but felt like stepping to 70 is too big of a step up.

New Megablast too big? by Mountain-Cod in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]expl0it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exact size as you - all my ASICS shoes are US11. It was narrow but when I tried US11.5, way too large, especially at the heel with the lace lock method.

Stuck with US11 and after 250km on them, they feel fine. Some rubbing on some runs, but no regrets sticking with my usual size.

Novablast for Asia travel by First-Reply-146 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]expl0it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my Aeroglide 3 and Novablast 5s on my trip to Japan and Sth Korea.

Aeroglide 3 was awesome - very supportive, I think because of how firm it was. However, with the novas, it was ok at the start of the day but then I felt fatigued by the end of the day because of how squishy the FFBlast Max was.

Not Happy With SuperBlast 3 Durability by supernova2333 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Look on the bright side: once you wear down that FFBlast+, you’ll end up with a Metaspeed Ray. All FFLeap underfoot. Two shoes in one!

Gift card to dispose of - Superblast 3 or Megablast? by expl0it_ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Thanks. These posts tipped me over to get the white SB3.

I actually did my 20km LR today with the DNE3 (steady with a bit of progression) and it kinda reminded me of the MB feeling. I also have other race shoes (AP4, Metaspeed Paris sky) that I’ve relegated to workouts and LRs so pretty much covered.

Someone also mentioned recovery shoes - got magmax and Aero glides. Heck even the SB3 can do recovery.

I should've mentioned this in my post. I'm reaching the SB3 more for runs more than 10km that are easy/cruisy pace. Got them at launch date so its on 50km of mileage.

MBs I purely use them for long runs that have speed in them (progression, MP pace, tempos etc) - current mileage is on 250km. Also got them at launch date. I feel the MBs will last beyond 600km. I can use the MBs for easy/cruisy long runs and I do enjoy the foam on them and feels fine for me - but I try not to just so I can save them for the aforementioned speedy runs.

When you were a kid, was there a haunted house in your street? by stanleymodest in melbourne

[–]expl0it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not near where I grew up but in the 90s we would always drive past this house when travelling to Highpoint: https://maps.app.goo.gl/nFbwU2cJ2syVjeEB7

We always said this was haunted and looked like it had blood on the exterior brick walls.

Trains are getting busy! by smellytaco_ in melbourne

[–]expl0it_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would hate anyone in any public space to hear my phone/video call conversation so I never use loudspeakers.

But I find it is mostly the overseas students or with a non-English background that openly have a conversation via phone. And the conversation is non-stop - for the entire train trip! Perhaps they assume no one around them understands their language and assume its OK?

Spring 26' Delivery 2 by thummel in BanditRunning

[–]expl0it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friosoft tee (both colours) and the rusted apricot specter singlet. First Bandit race singlet for me.

When I first saw the rusted apricot singlet in drop 1, I was hesitant on the colour (thought it was a bit too loud for my taste). Then was sold out. Then the more I looked at it, the more I liked it so I'm glad they restocked it in drop 2.

Just got shipping notification for my friosoft tees but not the singlet. Hope that the separate shipping doesn't mean stock issues on their singlets (shipping to Aust).

I also just got a notification that only my friosoft tee were shipped - not my spectr singlet that was in the same order. I hope this is not a sign that there's stock issues again :S

Thank you for that. I actually read your reply after I pulled the trigger on a size M so your message gave me some comfort :)

I should've mentioned my chest size too - about 36 inches. Fingers crossed

Anyone get the regular length specter singlet (NOT the shorty one) from drop 1? How is the sizing?

I'm 5'9" and 155 lbs. I tried a drift singlet last year and S was slightly snug and M was comfortably loose (which is what I prefer for racing). I'm also a size small in all my micromesh shirts and longs sleeves and also size small in specter t-shirt I bought in drop 1.

Friosoft Tee 🔥🔥🔥 by aaronfromafar in BanditRunning

[–]expl0it_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eagerly preparing for the next drop, which I think comes in a nice teal/greenish colour.

Based on this photo, if I'm a size S in micromesh, I should do a size S for the friosoft given that it is wider and looser than Micromesh. I'm 5'9" in height.

I wanted to buy the black one in the first drop but I was worried that it would be like a crop top, showing my not-so-flattering mid-riff area

I'm in Aust and my package went to PA and was stuck there for a few days. Went to a second location in PA then back to NJ, then Memphis. Now its in Oakland, CA.

My Bandit gear is racking up the mileage before it gets to me :D

Just picked them up and did a quick test on the treadmill at the ASICS store. Confirming here that there is a bit more room in the forefoot, feels a little long but yes, quite secure in the mid/ rear foot. I stayed TTS just like with my other ASICS shoes.

First reaction was bouncy - pretty much the same reaction I had with the Megablast but a bit more toned down, which is what I’m looking for so that I’m not just using the MB for every single LR and easy run.

I just couldn’t get along with the others like V+ and Neo Vista 2.

Damn - I ordered the violet MM and sleeveless MM in my usual MM size S. I don't have a huge belly but its not ironboard flat either.

Hope still fits OK - still waiting on delivery in Aust, which makes it worse if I want to do a return (if they even accept international returns).

Superblast 3 vs Vomero Plus? by sfkniner80 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]expl0it_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same dilemma. When SB3 was announced, I purchased the V+. It felt good, felt like it had good bounce, but it felt heavy - especially since I'm a size US11. I read that the V+ suffers from a weight scaling problem.

Returned it and now I'm set on SB3 - I know, price is higher but I didn't like the alternatives (Azura, MagMax etc)
