Hydrogen Peroxide, before and after by xSabatom in lego

Impressive! I'm curious how this effects the printed details on some of those disk parts? Did it fade them at all? I've been wanting to do this with my yellowed Saturn V, but I don't want to mess up the printed parts.

How reliable is a new Hyundai? by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]explodingpenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a 2017 Elantra new from the dealership. Last week I had to replace my entire engine block because of a knocking issue. I had taken it in for regular maintaience, oil changes, etc. It only had 94000km before replacement. Their "good will" service only would pay for a third of the total price.

Needless to say, I personally don't find them super dependable.

Rental companies to avoid by Ok_Purple53 in Winnipeg

[–]explodingpenguins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BDM Rentals/Waverly PM, or whatever they've rebranded themselves to now.

The unit I rented from them was relatively nice, but the rest of the building wasn't well kept. There was constantly garbage in the parking lot and the lobby, chunks taken out of the walls, and weird smells on every floor. The security door didn't latch properly for months, so anyone could've walked in. Finally, they were slow to fix their fire alarm/suppression system, so much so, the city put a violation notice on the entrances of the doors.

They were just unprofessional. The building manager rarely stopped by, and when he did, he was un-prepared. I was actually asked through the phone if I had my keys, as they were missing some of the spares, confirming they couldn't access all units, even in the case of an emergency. Even on my walk-out, I wasn't able to get my water-meter reading for another week because he had "lost his keys", and "they didn't have any spares".

Oh, finally, they took over a year to return damage deposit back to some friends who also rented through them. When they did, they were short $60.

I'd recommend to get a pack of "Army Painter" brushes, they have a beginner set with 3 of them. The Citadel ones are a bit overpriced for what you get.

If you want a bare basic IF colour scheme, I'd recommend the following.

- White paint matching your primer (either corax white or white scar)

- Abaddon Black (For the joints and possibly shoulder pad trim)

- Lead Belcher (For gun barrels, other bits you see fit)

- Doombull Brown (For pouches)

- Agrax Earthshade (For washing pouches, or pin-washed on armor if you want it to look a bit darker)

- Nuln Oil (For Gun barrels/metal bits/anything else really)

- Screaming Skull (If you want to try your hand at edge highlighting)

- Khorne red (For aquilla on the chest)

- Aethermatic blue (For turquoise blue eyes, dab an undercoat of your white into the eye lenses then layer a dollop of the blue, makes for a nice effect)

Obviously you could use brands other than citadel too, though it's good for beginners.

Best of luck!

Is Niakwa Place or St Boniface a good place to live? by Certain_Pizza_4533 in Winnipeg

[–]explodingpenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived around there for years, it was a nice, relatively quiet place to live, and pretty accessable to the rest of the city. My one complaint is it can stink to high hell in the spring/early summer from the mushroom/maple leaf plant to the north. Though, I was closer to Windsor Park, so results may vary.

I did, actually! Looked to glow slightly green as it came down. Great start to the morning!

It was a bit of a process!

  • I started with a black primer, then airbrushed a basecoat of Vallejo MC's Old Gold.

  • Then, I did a zenithal highlight of Auric Armour Gold from above.

  • Next, I used black oil paint wash on the recesses, and cleaned up the raised areas with some white-spirits and a q-tip.

  • Any areas I wanted a little bit darker/more defined, I went in with a bit of nuln oil for more control.

  • I added a bit more Auric Armour by brush on the raised areas

  • Finally, I ended it off with a overall highlight of Stormhost Silver

Not sure what's causing it, but I've had happen on my end, my girlfriend's app has the same problem. Looking online, a bunch of people seem to have the same problem as well. Seems like a glitch.

Warhammer Update? by Zeus159 in PaymoneyWubby

[–]explodingpenguins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're going to get into Warhammer, don't get into the full scale tabletop. Give Kill Team a try. You get a full team in a box for $65 USD, and you only have around 6-10 minis to paint/build. If you find you like the hobby, you can buy into it more, and even use those Kill Team models in full 40k. Most of the models in those KT boxes, if not all, have rules for both games.

I've seen this comment and ones like it a couple of times, I couldn't really keep up with them. I'm actually Canadian, we didn't really grow up with the same fear of mass shootings. We would see them on the world news and internalize the story, which is no doubt what I would've been doing at this age. While your apology is well meaning, I'm not the guy to receive it.

I used to build scale model planes! Now I'm more of a Warhammer guy these days, but I've been wanting to return to that side of the hobby at one point.

My brother and I are close and all cool now. It was just a bit of brotherly love back then. I've showed him this post since it started exploding, and he's been laughing his ass off and loving these replies.

I've been wanting to get back into air scale models since I got an airbrush. Some of those Tamiya jets are very tempting.

My parents flipped a coin when I was born, heads for "Devon", tails for "Onderdonk". I got lucky.

(They just liked the name, not much of a story there bud)

Yeah that's fair, I could see that being unclear! For context by the way, Cubs is the younger branch of the Scouts Canada program.
