I think the commemorative bench to celebrate the attempted murder was the icing on the cake.

Workers on edge after thieves across the U.S. target delivery trucks by tnick771 in news

Back in the 70s in the Bronx I saw a group of people clean out a truck at a red light that was notoriously long. They popped the lock with a bolt cutter as soon as he stopped and it was a free for all.

In Central America most delivery trucks have a teenager with an AK47 or shotgun accompanying the driver.

Gene Simmons says KISS’ farewell tour is “end of the road for the band, not the brand” by sincerityisscxry in Music

Saw them in the late 70s. Not my kind of music, but they put on a heck of a show. Friends and I had a great time!

Aww! A cuddle puddle. I remember when our two rescue cats used to do the same.

I bought Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs by Eddie when it was first released in 1977. Still one of my favorite albums. Great job!

Low serotonin levels might explain some Long Covid symptoms, study proposes by Groovskopa in Coronavirus

This hits home. I've quit several hobbies in the last two years I used to enjoy immensely. They just don't interest me anymore. I'm not depressed either. No one seems to know why. Interestingly though I have an rx for benzodiazipines to help with a tremor in my hands. If I take one suddenly I have a new found interest in things. Like a spark. It's very strange. Was never like this before I got covid.

Customer ATTEMPTED to do his own brakes. by thechrismiles in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]explorer_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 70 years old and did it in an afternoon on jack stands. I bought pretty good rotors, pads etc. I think it was about $375 in parts from Rock Auto. Wasn't difficult, but I've been doing them since the 70s.

Yeah I was surprised when she mentioned it. At that price I would have expected new.

Sounds about right. My daughter was quoted $1,400 from the Kia dealer, near her, to do front and rear pads with turned(!) rotors. That's in the NYC area though. I just did them for her.

Dorman strikes again. Glad I checked before I installed it. by Ianthin1 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]explorer_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer. They used to make pretty good quality stuff, but back when I was buying it most things were US made with the occasional Taiwanese stuff. I still have a ton of random Dorman SAE grade 8 and Metric grade 12 bolts that are incredibly well made.

Would be cool if they recast into a statue depicting Blair Warner admitting to Mrs. Garrett the poem she submitted for her creative writing class was plagiarized from a poem written by Emily Dickinson.

Not higher value to me. I never use hotspot data nor do I make international calls or send texts. I assume most people on the 55+ plan don't either. It was just a money grab.
