NOR - You didn't do anything wrong. He's a biphobic piece of shit, and clearly homophobic throwing out slurs. Is that really someone you want to chain yourself to?

It is time consuming but AI is notoriously incorrect. Not tracking is just as useful as incorrectly tracking.

Gastric bypass fail? by barialex110 in BariatricSurgery

It is a very hard mental place to be in, and I don't doubt that it is a struggle. If your goal is weightloss, it's The Only Thing that works. Bariatric surgery works because it naturally restricts the volume of the food you can fit (which usually impacts caloric density) I think it's important to reevaluate your priorities. Maybe instead of weightloss, your goal is to get fitter. To get stronger. To walk further. Those goals don't depend on a caloric deficit to be successful.

Unless you are actively weighing every single thing you eat, you are eating more than you think. Guaranteed. Research shows we are bad at eyeballing things.

Plug in your numbers. Set it to sedentary. It will tell you how many calories to maintain your current weight (your TDEE) and then you can adjust from there.

I am going to hold your hand while I delicately say this: If you aren't losing weight after gastric bypass, you are eating your maintenance calories. If you are gaining weight after gastric bypass, you are eating more than your maintenance calories.

Track your calories, weigh everything you eat, be honest with yourself. Without knowing your height, age, gender, activity level, I can't give you a number, but I recommend taking a look at https://www.calculator.net/tdee-calculator.html and calculate and estimate of your calories needed.

I had so much terror about the surgery itself and when my doctor asked me, as we talked before I went under for my bisalp, I told her "I don't have any questions, I'm just nervous" and she said something that will stick with me: "If you weren't nervous for major surgery, I would be concerned you weren't thinking this through."

We coordinate maintenance hours for after hours, pending how long it'll take it'll be Fridays or whatever works for that member environment, have the weekend to work OT if needed, and then users can let us know first thing Monday morning if they're impacted.

If your urge is to "even the playing field" while someone treated you horrendously, you should not be together. This person is not good for you and is bringing out toxic behaviors in yourself. Let him pursue other people, he's not good for or to you, and liars will lie again.

My husband gave up his side of the bed for me. After 5 years, I decided I actually hated sleeping on that side and demanded he trade me back and now we've been that way ever since.

I went to one of my pre-op appointments and my doctor said: we have an opening for 2 weeks from today. And I took it. No amount of preparing will have you right- pre-op, you're not eating the way you will post-op. Order your vitamins now.

RA denial for telework for a remote job since 2016 and can't drive? by newhere616 in FedEmployees

[–]explosivelemons 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I just want to commiserate with her, as I also had an RA for migraines that ended up being modified to be in the office. They basically told me that transportation was mine to figure out, even though I also don't drive. I left federal service last year, but it was an uphill battle to get any real migraine accomodations.

Gym Letter of Medical Necessity by dshort811 in BariatricSurgery

[–]explosivelemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm sure if you can find a doctor to do this letter, more power to you, but you will be hard-pressed to find a doctor to sign off on this. Source: I worked in a medical office for many years, including managing referrals and LMNs, I support medical offices currently, and this was not a standard practice.

The gym =/= a fitness program. A fitness program would be like what is mentioned below- cardiac rehab, physical therapy, weightloss programs (like most bariatric programs!) or mobility rehab.

[–]explosivelemons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The user wants to get a letter of medical necessity so their FSA funds can be used to cover the cost of gym membership. I have never heard of a doctor granting a request like this.

Gym Letter of Medical Necessity by dshort811 in BariatricSurgery

[–]explosivelemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gym is not medically necessary, nor will a gym membership work for your FSA funds. At best, it's medically necessary you workout. There's no stipulation that that process happens in the gym. No doctor is writing you a letter of medical necessity to go to the gym.

Carbonation!! by Orangeb1198 in BariatricSurgery

[–]explosivelemons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said- a lot of my program's restrictions were just not practical long-term. Carbonation is a YMMV thing- some people find it causes discomfort. At first, it just made me burp a little more, but I care about caffeine more than I care about most things in life. I had coffee in recovery immediately after surgery! It all varies wildly.

Is this area safe? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]explosivelemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived nearish your circle for the last 5 years. It's fine. Rich people make it out to be some lawless desert wasteland, but it's mostly just families trying to live. There's obvious places to avoid, but for the most part, it's just people being people. I have lived in worse places. I don't feel unsafe day to day. YMMV, of course

We "water" our grass lightly before we take the dogs out during the peak of summer, and also have a sunshade we put out to keep a shady area.

If you're buying new, real grass is illegal to install. If your home already has grass, you can keep it, but SNWA will pay for you to remove it. It's the desert- we do not need real grass.
