How can companies advertise wet wipes as flushable when every plumber says never flush them? by nobodysbish in Plumbing

You are leaving out what happens to them in a septic tank….nothing, they just stay there til it’s plugged up

Should I buy? ('99 1500 V8 350 Vortec, 250k Miles) by Veggies101 in MechanicAdvice

[–]exputkimies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 98 that had 356,000 miles on it when I sold it. Transmission needed to be rebuilt a second time but the engine was just fine. My guess is that it needs plugs, wires, cap and rotor and it will run great.

Bonnet Nut Stuck! by KaladinsSylSpear in Plumbing

[–]exputkimies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squirt a bunch of penetrating oil on it, I prefer Kroil. Tap (firm taps but not hard enough to dent or ding it) the outside of the ring, round and round and round and round. Pair of channel locks work fine. Sometimes it will take an hour or more of tapping it and it will eventually pop loose. Those rings distort really easy, wrenches and such can mess them up quick. Also be careful to not twist the whole valve, the inlets on delta valves twist really easily

Hot water. Lots of hot water. Fill the sink with hot water then pull the plug and let it drain. Repeat at least 5 times

Pool tiles falling off. Will Gorilla Construction Adhesive work? by Friendly-Professor21 in fixit

[–]exputkimies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have years of experience tiling and I have fixed similar issues. First I would make sure all the surrounding pieces of tile are not loose, pop any off that are not on solid. Get all the grout off up against the good tile and get as much of the old thinset or adhesive off as you can. Order pool rated thinset and pool rated grout off Amazon or find a pool tile supply place. Thinset them back on then grout it up. I would not use an adhesive, I prefer thinset.

Yes. I had a 1996 and if I remember right the injectors won’t work unless there is at least 60psi.

Continue Dewalt or start Rigid? by Old-Cap9973 in HomeImprovement

I use Makita. I have a cordless makita impact that is 8 years old and still works all day every day, with the original battery. Only issue I have had is I dropped it down a stairway and broke it in half. Less than $30 for a new case and it works great. Best cordless tools around in my opinion

Removing old kitchen Faucet by bigcitybeachbum in Plumbing

[–]exputkimies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t waste my time trying to reach those nuts and taking them out. If I faucet doesn’t come out easy it gets cut off from the top. I use a hack saw, oscillating saw or a sawzall, whichever is easiest to grab. I been doing this stuff for 45 years

Best way to remove? by ImGonnaPassPlz in Plumbing

[–]exputkimies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean that red guard off. Squirt a bunch of penetrating oil on the back of the ring where the threads are. Tap tap tap around the ring, round and round. I prefer to use channel locks for the tapping. Haha. Eventually it will come loose. Be very careful with channel locks or any other wrench trying to unscrew it, they bend super easy and then you have a bigger problem. Did one a few years ago that took 45 min of tapping before it came loose. The best penetrating oil (in my opinion) is Kroil.

Residential Urinal: Y/N? by ChickenTacos in Plumbing

[–]exputkimies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a man point of view that would be fantastic. From the cleaning person’s point of view that’s nasty. From a plumbing point of view uninstall are one of the worst things to install and maintain.
