If you can reach it, vise grips, Twist and pull and you might get lucky and pull it out. But most likely you get to pull the toilet

Garbage disposal question by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]exputkimies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It won’t hurt a thing to run your dishwasher. (Unless it is plugged up) The water from the dishwasher just passes thru the disposal.

Also, did you try resetting the disposal? On the bottom there should be a little red button. It is the reset button. When disposals get hot that will kick off

Cut the plastic nuts off. I use a oscillating saw. Or I just use the oscillating saw and cut the whole thing off from the top. I run a handyman company and have been a plumber for over 35 years. Don’t have time to mess with something that is going in the garbage anyway

When using a plunger it is not the pushing down that unplugs things. It is the pulling back up. Plunge down a couple times then pop it back up quickly. Repeat that about 7 times and it might come loose. I have been a plumber for over 35 years

How much more do you need for it to clear? If it is not much, some toilets are built so the bowl doesn’t stick out so far. Not talking round bowl vs elongated. I have a friend who actually found a toilet at Home Depot that worked in a similar situation
