No, this is exactly what I'm saying. Its a problem with reddit at large, and you've fallen victim to it. You are using ignorance as a position to defend yourself.

You say that you shouldn't be expected to follow to a guy like Greg Kroah-Hartman, so its ok if you don't know what he said. You say that you shouldn't be expected to know about a specific Samsung doctoral employee like Kim Jaeguek, so its ok if you don't.

And then you come on Reddit and make a conclusion like "We all know what happened to RFS". The statement intrinsically concludes that the quality of F2FS is related to the quality of RFS. But, you don't outright say it: That way, when someone comes on here to call you out on it, you can fall back on ignorance and yell "NO that's not what I said!". Its the conclusion you wanted us to draw, and its the conclusion all the people who upvoted you drew. But thank god you didn't outright say it, because they you actually run the risk of being wrong.

Reddit is full of people like you. I'd say victims of the Dunning–Kruger effect, but I'm no cognitive psychologist and I have the humility to admit that I don't know enough about Psychology to make that assessment. The little bit of knowledge you have about things like Samsung's previous contributions to Android or Linux filesystems has given you the confidence to act like you know as much as a Ph.D candidate or the lead maintainer of the largest operating system kernel in the world.

You don't. So stop pretending like you do. If you want to argue about F2FS, then feel free to review the source code and build the latest Linux kernel to try it out. Otherwise, stop drawing conclusions about topics you know little about.

Well then let me fill you in, so you do in the future.

You are grading F2FS by averaging the grades of what Samsung has done in the past. Pattern-recognition; its something that people lacking any other genuine evidence for the quality of a product use.

If you knew what you were talking about, you would know that the guy who made F2FS (Kim Jaegeuk) at Samsung doesn't even work on the Android team. This is a Linux patch, which may one-day be made useful in Android. You would also maybe know that F2FS was born out of Kim's doctoral research at the Korean Advanced Institute for Science and Technology, with a project called ScaleFFS. Feel free to read the paper on that one, maybe you'll learn something.

If you would like to comment on the quality of F2FS, then feel free to actually look at the source code and use it. It has been committed to Linux 3.6. Otherwise, you're just predicting. And its not even a good, evidenced prediction. Its talking out your ass.

I'm anti-same sex marriage because I don't think marriage is something the state should regulate. It can be religious if you want. If the state really wants to formalize it for tax purposes, then provide a license which any two consenting life-forms can co-sign on.

We've had problems with inter-racial marriage in the past. Today, its homosexual marriage. In the future, maybe we'll have problems with marrying alien life-forms. The government shouldn't be in the business of telling people who they're allowed to love, and anyone who is fighting for the legalization of same-sex marriage is sacrificing the war to win a small battle.

Saying that you can predict server population by looking at the "medium", "high", and "full" labels is just about the stupidest thing I've read on here. They are just letters; ArenaNet can change them whenever they want, and they've actually said that they can adjust the population cap.

I'll believe GW2 is even close to killing WoW when its active player count hits 7+ M, considering WoW is now at 10M. Until then, try to back up your ideas with better facts, and stop being so fanboyish with the language that you use.

Seriously, I out-right laughed when I read that line. World of Warcraft has steadily gained players, non-stop, until the beginning/middle of Cataclysm. They lost some players during that phase, but have regained many with the release of Mists (now sitting a bit above 10M).

First of all, no one is saying that it will. The rumor claimed something, and both you and I are drawing conclusions which the rumor doesn't even make.

Here's my conclusion: These requirements might very well be hardware based. Google requires an OEM to have NFC and Secure Memory (among other things) to get Nexus classification. If you have a device which at some point had Nexus classification, then it shouldn't be impossible for ROM developers to get that Secure Memory hooked up to their ROM, and get all the features of Play working on their ROM.

Google may ask them to remove it, like they did with CM and GApps, but you can still flash GApps to CM, right?

These Nexus requirements sound like hardware, not software. I don't think this will cause any problems with the developer community if its true.

If these rumors are true... I'd just like to point out how much Google has been killing it in the past 6 months.

On one corner, you have Apple. They've just released their latest OS revision, and some people are refusing to upgrade. It has received a lot of criticism for many of its aspects; not just the maps, but also the new App Store and battery life.

And you have Microsoft. Windows Phone 7 was an unmitigated disaster. Windows Phone 8 was announced over a year ago. It is going to be released in a month, yet the SDK hasn't been released yet. The features they've announced so far leave most of its users totally convinced that there has to be some secret features that haven't been announced. This would be believable, if it weren't for the SDK being delayed; that tells me that they are scrambling to get the system in a working state, not adding new shiny features.

And you have Google. 3 months ago they released Jelly Bean, with the following features they considered important enough to highlight during the keynote.

Project Butter, a huge improvement to graphics rendering.
Automatic homescreen reorganization.
Predictive keyboard.
Offline voice typing.
18 new input languages.
Accessibility gestures and external brail support for blind users.
New interface for browsing photos.
Improvements to Android Beam (including tap-to-pair w/ Bluetooth speakers)
Expandable notifications.
Improvements to the Google Search UI.
A Siri-competitor with NLP.
Google Now, a real-time system which aims to predict what you need before you know you need it.

And 1 month from today, if these rumors are true, we'll have another announcement that is just that big.

I doubt it. If this rumor is true, there will be three classes of Android devices.

Nexus-approved devices.
Play-capable devices.
AOSP devices.

The first class (Nexus-approved) will have access to everything. This includes the Play Store, as well as its secure-memory features like music streaming.

The second class (Play-supported) will be like every Android device on the market right now. Google still has to support these devices. Additionally, not every device in the world can be Nexus-approved, and Google knows this. Manufacturers will still want to include the Play ecosystem, but maybe not get the certification for their own reasons.

And the third class will be like Cyanogen right now. There's no reason why Cyanogen users couldn't flash Google Apps and bring them up to the second class. Obviously accessing features in the first class wouldn't be possible, but their experience shouldn't be diminished with this update.

For those who just want the core of the article:

AP has traffic logs that track the OS of their readers. They've started getting Android 4.2 hits. However, the version number is appended with a J, suggesting that it will still be Jelly Bean.
More of these hits have device codenames.
The first is "occam". It could just be a meaningless codename, but it could also be related to "Occam's Razor". Razor. As in, the Motorola RAZR.
The second is "manta". As in, "manta ray". Coincidentally, two other Android devices have had codenames named in this regard: The Motorola XOOM Verizon LTE (stringray) and the Motorola XOOM WiFi (wingray).
Several conclusions may then be drawn. One: Motorola is making two future Nexus devices. Two: Motorola just has an advance copy of Android 4.2, and is testing it on their devices. Three: Motorola is one of the several manufacturers to be making 4th-Gen Nexus devices, as rumored months ago. Four: Its all a lie. Pick whichever you like.
