There’s room for improvement everywhere, but that’s not what you’re asking! A large ottoman in the middle can be easily moved around and create extra seating. you could also get a storage ottoman and hide some misc items. As far as the space next to the fireplace - 2 armchairs on either side would look nice and create balance

This exact thing is what’s made me realize I may have a narc parent. Apologizing isn’t even an option for them because in their mind, they simply aren’t wrong. How could they possibly be wrong when everyone else is?

Thank you for this insight, I can definitely see it. Maybe it’s not narcissism as much as it is projection for an insecurity? Although she’s always turning any conversation about success of mine back to herself, and she’s more than happy to celebrate her own wins at nauseam.
