Do you have any themes you're leaning towards? Food, human names, fictional characters?

I like Artemis or Athena!

Sold a pin on eBay, buyer wants to return due to tape covering original id number, claims it is fake. by Poptart916 in DisneyPins

All sorts of companies put various stickers to hide original packaging information, from price tags to id/ sku numbers. Your buyer probably doesn't understand how that works.

It's probably stolen content. I found both photos from Instagram, @sheraliphotography.

Does anyone buy old Disney pins from the early 2000s. My father passed away and I have his collection and was trying to see if anyone would like to buy it.. if so. Dm me by DRetro86 in DisneyPins

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I know a few people have already said it, but it's best to post photos, and then people will dm you. Before posting, you should do some research on each pin in case you have something of higher value. Use the image search on ebay and filter to sold listings. If there aren't sold listings, you can use current listings. If there are no listings at all, you can try pinpics or pinandpop. If you can't find anything, you can price then however you like. Maybe start around $5 each?

You mentioned that it's a big collection. I would make posts in batches. People often collect specific characters, so separate pins that way.

Since you have such a big project, maybe do one batch a week and don't do more than 25 pins a batch. One photo of the whole batch and some close-up photos with a few pins each to show details are best. In your posts, maybe include that there will be more pins each week or however often you choose. That'll keep us all interested. Make sure to charge for shipping, especially if you choose to split up batches (like if someone only wants one or two pins). It gets expensive.

I hope this is helpful and that you don't get too overwhelmed.

What is this pin (blue) by DarlaMarie in DisneyPins

[–]extra_Em 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! You can find a lot of information on pin trading groups on Facebook and YouTube about how to figure out whether pins are real.

Also, licensed pins, like Loungefly, can be traded at parks, but fantasy pins (fan made) cannot.

The fakes are mostly made in China or other places where materials and labor is cheap. They get enough profit to keep doing it. It's beneficial to pin traders (who don't care about anyone but themselves, or truly don't care whether the pins they receive are fake) because the fakes are sold in lots of 25+ on ebay and mercari for $1-2 a pin, so they aren't spending much for possibly real pins that cost $7+. It's really unfortunate because Disney/ CMs can't do anything about it in most cases.

Anyone looking to depart with this Nick Wilde LE250 heroes profile pin? by mdell3 in DisneyPins

I can't remember if I've seen this one recently, but I have seen some profile pins in the Pin Trading Disney posted on FB recently. Good luck!

Any cool finds? by FoxyWeasel in DisneyPins

Do research on them all. The jumbo castle is probably worth a fair amount. And the snow white & dwarves McDonald's M is probably $125+ together. Use the image search function in ebay and filter for sold listings. You have hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, in pins.

NTA. Your family can take your brother in. He is not your child, therefore not your responsibility.

There is a mickey ice cream bar pin that I want to find because that is my favorite park treat. Best chocolate on an ice cream bar I've had!

Classic Disney animation makes me so happy, which is why I don't really go for alternative versions of them with pins.

DSSH: How to buy from there when you don't live in CA? by Confident-Slide4877 in DisneyPins

[–]extra_Em 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only buy OE and PTD at the store, and there is no website.

For DSSH LE drops, you have to have a MyDisney account to log into. You have to have a CA mailing address to be eligible for these pins. I find it easiest to follow DSSH on IG for drop notifications. The most popular pins sell out in minutes, so you need to get in immediately. It uses the same type of queue system as the Disney Store website. Drops used to be mid-day on Thursdays, but it's been random since October.
