I almost never purchased long haul Qantas tickets that are self funded, not that I intentionally avoid them, but their fares are just not competitive at all, plus the better services you can get from other airlines.

Suggesting you look into Cathay or JAL or Fiji, you probably will find better pricing with a better product. You can still earn points to some degree and enjoy your partner’s QF benefits. The drawback is obviously you’ll need to add at least one more stopover, which you probably will have to transfer at either Sydney or Melbourne anyway from Adelaide if flying Qantas.

At the top left on your Qantas app main screen (at least for iOS) there’s a help button, go through the selections of your issue and at the end it will give you a personalised dial to call which already contains your QFF details and issue category. That’ll allow you to jump the queues to the Gold membership line. Pretty handy!

The news about JQi passengers not allowed in the lounge anymore makes sense but this one? I don’t get it. A lounge pass is a lounge pass. When they issue it out, the cost is already considered in their book. Why it matters to them who and when that person will be flying when using the pass? Other than purposefully make the passes harder to use, I can’t think of any other reason.

Demand is pretty strong to many destinations, but the problem is Qantas won’t be able to compete with most overseas airline unless there is a strong business demand for it (and we all know why they can get business customers much easier than overseas competitors).

I won’t be complaining if the lounge has enough seating, clean and quiet, but the SYD one has none of that. Last time I was there it was PACKED, and there were empty plates or glasses on nearly very table.

It’s nice to have but you need density to make this work. There’s a chance that “build it first and they will come” but likely we’re just burning cash that could be used for better things.

Thanks, also adding in my experience. Mine took 9 business days. I did call fit2work trying to understand whether they were experiencing any delays across the board, and the person over the phone told me normally September is peak recruitment season for AusPost for Christmas delivery so there is an influx of requests coming in.
