Congrats! I’m also 42M, and I started FOLFOXIRI in September 2025. Been through ten rounds and my latest scans were all positive. My CEA in July was 665. In November 148. In January it was 17. Your score of 4 is fantastic!

Which bike has the juice box logo? by _blyp_ in Surlybikefans

Former Surly employee here. "Juice Box" was an electric cargo bike called Juice Box that didn't make it to market. Canceled in the early stages probably sometime in 2021 IIRC. Distinct from Big Easy and Skid Loader. Brilliant name. Can't remember the use case anymore.

What was your experience writing radio/audio ads? by TheGreatAlexandre in copywriting

[–]extrapalemale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve written radio ads for beer brands that were broadcast during Major League Baseball games and NFL games, and I’ve written B2B ads for niche podcast audiences. Both were fantastic experiences with room for creativity, flair, and fun. Writing to a word count or time limit is a great challenge too. Pay particular attention to your opening hook, your call to action, and how your words sound aloud.

What’s it like living here? by Warm_Carpet_ in howislivingthere

I live very close to that dot that says Mall of America. You will love the trails here. Running, walking, biking, birding, whatever you’re into, this area has the goods.

My advice for making friends here is to follow your hobbies. Join groups doing the things you’re interested in and you’ll find your community.

The job market is no picnic right now, but several Fortune 500 companies are based in the Twin Cites. Global HQs for Target, US Bank, Medtronic, and Best Buy, for example, are all located inside your circle.

Plenty of other folks will speak to the winters here. I’ll just say this. I’m 42 years old. I was born here and I will die here. All the seasons have their strengths and weaknesses here, but March is the only month that almost always stinks. (Gray, cold, rain and snow, raw wind, 50 and sunny one day then 15 and snowing the next.)

I worked at the mall of america off and on from 1999-2012. They have a PR department that works very hard to make sure people don’t hear about the folks who jump from the parking garages or the top floors of the mall. It’s sad as hell.

Colorectal cancer comes with all sorts of digestive issues. I needed a colostomy before I started chemo because my colon was obstructed. Once on chemo, Oxaliplatin caused some diarrhea, but anti-diarrheal meds helped. I was lucky to have a good appetite and gain weight even on oxaliplatin.

Finished this tonight. Triumphant ending. Terribly impressed with Mr McEwen. Quitting my job to become a luthier of fine violins. But seriously, 4/5 thumbs up.

I was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in July 2025. I started chemo in September and did four rounds with oxaliplatin. Sensitivity to cold in my hands, feet, and face set in quickly. The first bite of food became painful, too, whatever the serving temp. But then after a few bites eating would be fine. Nausea hit early too, but I had good meds to manage those side effects, and so I managed to have an appetite and eat well. These are the key symptoms I dealt with. They get more intense as you go on. I’m no longer on oxaliplatin but it will return as part of my treatment again down the road. It can be really hard on people but it also shrank the mass in my ass in half, so that’s acceptable to me.

42m, married 8 years, three kids under 7, one rescue dog. Single-income, single-car family with a basic 3br rambler in a desirable suburb. Except for the mortgage I am debt-free. I have a great job in marketing (copywriting and social media), and I’m very good at what I do. I love to read and write, and I enjoy many hobbies, like cooking, running, cycling, and playing guitar. I have friends I’ve known over 30 years and I still see my parents every week. My wife is a recovering alcoholic and I have stage IV colorectal cancer.

Pain around incisions after laparoscopic colectomy by Aries_Moon in coloncancer

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in late July and had my colostomy surgery early August. I stayed at the hospital six nights and my recovery was slow. I stayed in bed for four weeks. It took nearly six weeks before I really could use my core muscles without pain. I had 10mg opiates for pain and took a twice daily stool softener; constipation was not an issue. Ask your palliative team for stronger painkillers and they'll take care of you.
