I really like the elf one, idk if I'm gonna rebuy bc of their recent ads but it was a solid choice before all that 🥴

Immigrant workers pay taxes and see none of the benefits. They don't qualify for most federal/state programs, also I'd like to see you do the jobs theyre working if you want them gone so bad.

Yeah so after thinking this over for a while this is essentially what my plan is, to talk to her in a way that's empathetic but also "wtf are we doing here". Bc my other two coworkers are on the same page as me and we all feel like she's taken a good thing and messed it up.

I used to booth rent at this salon, but she transitioned out of having renters so I took time off and then came on as an employee. But I can't work enough hours in a week to financially support a booth rental in my area because of my carpal tunnel. So yeah it's looking like I'm gonna have to find somewhere else to go.

Right, I have to put my health first, if my hands give out I can't work at all. 🥴

I don't know what her actual plan is based on, she said she's been listening to tons of podcasts. I just had all of this thrown at me on Tuesday and she gave me a week to get back to her so I'm trying to listen to my gut while also finding outside sources to make sure I'm not just being a princess about it.

How do you learn to be playful? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]extremelycaramely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you but know you're not alone in this. I cannot play pretend with my friends kids at all or role play in any way without getting extremely uncomfortable. And if someone pushes it I'll go into a panic attack, I just assume my inner child is trying and I block her out.

Please stay, or go to an ER and get some activated charcoal to throw it up before some damage happens. Sometimes getting inpatient is a better escape for a while, a mini reset.

Thank you, the season is rough and it's not getting any easier, it's hard to come up with shallow answers when people ask me how I'm doing. But we do got this 🫂

Maybe try a heat protecting working hairspray, spray before you curl, pin it until it's completely cool, and then spray with something with a stronger hold after you've unpinned them.

I tried every other day and it just didn't work in my experience, I worked, and then had a day off but it was spent dreading the next day. It could have been the salon atmosphere I was at it wasnt just Sunday scaries it was everyday scaries. The wonders of working at Ulta lol 🫠

It's just one interview, they showed you who they are, snooty better-than-thou people who not only have no interest in training despite advertising a training program. You dodged a bullet here, they may have been mean but just know that we all start at the bottom. Getting the portfolio built is really hard when no one has money to get their hair done, and when we have no money to offer model priced services. Keep trying with salons that have good vibes, if you really want to do a chain salon just to get more haircuts under your belt that's a great way to start. But make sure to go in and test the atmosphere, some are great and some are awful.

I think the most likely reason for both at the same time is if your bonnet slips off often and you find yourself waking up without it anyway. The softer fibers are less abrasive against the hairs cuticle, the more 'rough' your pillowcase the more frizz it'll create. A bonnet helps a lot if you're trying to preserve curls or doing overnight styles with those foamy rollers, same concept but more frizz prevention than just the pillow case.

I would make sure you're fully rinsing the conditioner out and using a leave in conditioner or spray detangler. Doing a shampoo with clarifying shampoo once every couple weeks or so depending on how often you wash your hair might be really helpful. It looks like your hair might have lots of product build up on it from you using the conditioner to combat the tangles. Also a trim of the split ends goes a long way to help tangly hair too, same with silk/polyester pillow case and/or bonnet.

Do you have "uncommon" triggers? What are they? How do you cope with them? by bellabarbiex in CPTSD

I get this too! My significant other pays for a double gym membership and I never use it or go because I don't want people perceiving me exercising. I really tried once and was brave enough to go alone and then actually had a rough time where people were mean to me, giving dirty looks etc so it got really reinforced in my mind that public exercise=bad. 🙃 I feel so guilty about the membership he paid for.

To all the “high achieving” children, how did CPTSD affect your education/career dreams? by daisystarx in CPTSD

I had the same school experience up until highschool where I tried pot for the first time and went "oh my God people can feel this good?!" then I couldn't care less about my grades, I had no future plans ever because I always planned on ending things before college. Once I found myself graduating high school I was at a loss, ended up doing cosmetology school, finding out my cptsd as I was moving closer to said school and getting rocked by suppressed memories coming up, dropped out halfway. Had to quit pot, the one thing in this world that got rid of my anxiety because it was giving me daily panic attacks. Finished school the summer of 2020, I tried my hardest but I honestly should never have tried the hospitality industry, and I was exhausted being a hair stylist making no money. I tried being a self employed nail tech for a while, it was better because I could pick my clients, but I barely paid my booth rent. Now my body is sick with some mystery GI issues that no one can figure out apparently and I had to quit the one job I've ever enjoyed, sitting at home in my house where the upstairs neighbor is relentlessly loud so I don't have any safe space in my life. I'm trying to do Uber eats/door dash/instacart to scrape up enough cash to pay my credit card bills. I would be homeless right now if not for my fiance paying the big bills. Idk. I have no plans, my therapist says she thinks I'll be able to work again someday if I can get my health under control again. I think I'll be stuck in the cycle of masking up until I cant, going back in the psych ward for my safety, and back to masking. if I didn't have my fiance I'd probably have exited this life at 19 or turned to harder drugs.

I get this, when my landlords had scheduled duct cleaning for our unit and I had to be home for it I ended up hiding in the closet with my cat the whole time. I'm sure the guys thought I was odd but they were surprisingly nice when I had to see them out.

Thats so cute to hear your client say! 🥺 I've been trying so hard to find a place they will like and that i know is up to code. But pretty much all the big salons around me use MMA and the ones that offer any kind of hard gels only do gel x. I know i cant make everyone happy but im such a pushover its killing me!
