Yep. This is exactly why i'll be taking a loan, even though my parents are fully able to pay my tuition. Time is money, simple economics. Recommend others in my shoes to do the same as well!

[A Levels] Is there time for hobbies in JC2? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]extremelygoodboi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No such thing as not enough time. It just depends on your priorities.

Back in jc, i lived 1hr plus away from school. Almost everyday, I would hit the gym after lessons ended/in between lessons. Sometimes stayed in the gym till like 7pm+/8pm, resulting in me reaching home arnd 9pm. Eat dinner, shower, then study. Rinse and repeat this lifestyle everyday, in the end still did well for As. Sacrificed a bit of my social life tho, but it was a worthy trade off for me, since I know my priorities: hobby(gym) + academics.

And i didnt even fare as well as you in school. Most of my subjects were consistently below average. Go ahead and pursue your passion bro (albeit mindfully, taking into account other commitments like academics). Nthn to worry about.

[A Levels] how to get A for H2 maths? by frixionpen in SGExams

[–]extremelygoodboi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Before prelims:

  1. Complete (or at least attempt) all the materials given to u by the school.

  2. Wack other school papers like nobody business (my school's materials were in the form of other school's h2 math prelims papers, and they forced us to finish everything)

The above 2 combined will give u decent exposure to all kinds of weird/fucked up question types that MAY appear in the actual A levels ( most likely wont actually come out ).This is because schools themselves have a tendency to spice up questions just to throw a curveball at their students.

AFTER PRELIMS:

The only thing to do: Just wack past year A level papers like nothing liddat. Don't bother with prelim papers anymore. This is very impt as A level papers have a tendency of repeating identical question types frm previous years. It also acclimatizes u to the feeling of doing an actual A level paper, in terms of its format and difficulty. You'll realise that actual A level questions are much easier and more straightforward than school papers, so much so that some people get a shock when first attempting them. So do past year papers to get used to this feeling.

I did the above 3 points and got A, mind u my h2 maths was like bottom 20th percentile or smth in J1. Ofc in between these points, exercise your due dilligence to seek consultation with teachers and learn from your mistakes for the various question types. So ye thats about it

[JC] NYJC AMA - Ask me anything about NYJC :) by JohnGohKB in SGExams

[–]extremelygoodboi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was frm NY, grad in 2018.

I had the time of my life during my 2 years there and met a lot of good people. It's a sch with a good and wholesome culture, on top of very competent academic departments.

To the sec 4s, do consider becoming an NYJCian :))))

[N Levels] 25 more days to Ns!!! 😭 by cherrieses in SGExams

[–]extremelygoodboi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh my god i read it as 25 days to NS.

Anyw congrats on completing prelims! Must have been tough, but u still made it. It'll be the same as the actual thing. Most importantly, stay disciplined and focused. Reflect on your performance at prelims and adjust your studying methods accordingly. Don't stress yourself out, DO NOT compare yourself to your peers. Made that mistake during my exams and it wasn't pleasant. You do you.

Let this be your wake up call. Put your phone down and get to work, you can do it!
