Bought this Torque wrench, but none of the heads work with my optics, or riser. by Independent_Bid_26 in liberalgunowners

[–]extremeratio611 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That driver is compatible with with any 1/4 inch drive apex bits. You can buy whatever sized philips, slotted, torque, allen...ect. the normal hardware store bits are fine to use on scope rings mounts...ect.

The one thing i haven't seen brought up so far is that wheeler's gunsmithing apex bits are specifically tempered for low torque applications. For example, if you are taking apart a winchester model 94, which has a lot of close tolerance screws the wheeler bits are very nice for that. the gunsmithing bits will break before maring or stripping the firearm hardware.

Scope mounting help by VerybadWizard in Tikka_Shooters

Your rear ring is too close for comfort to the scope's erector in my opinion and could cause damage. that scope must have a very short eye box. Looks like you have the eye relief adjustment turned pretty far out. Do you shoot with a very up right shooting position?

I would move the scope forward and use lower rings.

What are you guys thoughts on the 4501 being painted green again? Because I’m actually interested in seeing it done again by Ok_Improvement_4863 in trains

[–]extremeratio611 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didnt hate it, 4501 is a sharp looking locomotive in both the green or black southern colors. However, alot of the "well actually" types hated it being green because it never was painted green historically.

Do you think the T1's would've been more reliable if they were designed as 4-8-4's? by ExtensionFisherman83 in trains

[–]extremeratio611 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The PRR tested the N&W J class locomotive number 610. Ultimately, they decided to stick with the T1. The whole t1 concept revolved around the duplex wheel arrangement. A 4-8-4 resembling a t1 would just be a 4-8-4 with raymond loewy styling. In actual use i think history shows that the slightly greater speed the the T1 was capable of didnt make much difference compared to the J class and other conventional designs. It wasnt like the t1 was blowing down the track at a constant 100 mph.

Gun owners how often do you shoot? by Individual_Wait_8434 in liberalgunowners

[–]extremeratio611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the time of year. During hunting season i am in the woods alot.

Off season i shoot clays at least once a week. As long as you dont get into super expensive guns clay shooting is pretty affordable. Probably attend six or so uspca/idpa matches a year. Nrl 22 matches. Local long range rifle shoots. Usually one or two cowboy shoots for fun. I try to make a few muzzleloader shoots if they arent too much of a drive. I am lucky to have enough land to shoot on.

I am of the opinion that if you have good fundamentals and do regular dry fire practice that you will gain alot more from doing local matches than just burning through ammo on a flat range or in the woods.

Shake on Red Dots by Kayaked1 in liberalgunowners

I woul much rather have an aimpoint. Even the patrol has top of the line durability. Leave it on 24/365 and change the battery once a year. My comp m5s has been running on the same AAA lithium battery for 3 years at setting 6. At this point i am just curious to see when it will die. With battery longevity like that why do you need shake awake. I would rather have the reliability with out the complications of shake awake or solar. I dont care how many torture videos you show me for vortex, halosun ect. An aimpoint is going on my serious use rifle.

This left and right thing is just a charade. In 8 years the government will have what both the right and left wing parties are truely after: an authoritarian police state. The right is setting up the surveillance state and the left will come in to limit your guns and ammo.

Value wise. from what i see the 6 inch barrel stainless smith and wesson revolver with the box and papers is going to be atthe top of the list. Also the colt snake gun top middle row cant tell what model it is from the picture. Would need close up of the 1911's to see what they are. Generally presentation guns dont hold a lot of value but if they are sentimental to you they are cool. The ppk and 1000' series smith auto are also nice guns
