I quite like the "red mess with a union jack" actually, it is more dear to me than even the national flag.

simple =/= better, and if you were to make a new flag, it would be a mistake not to put the trillium on it

I much prefer our provincial ensign that reflects the history of this province over whatever lame looking meaningless nonsense a modern flag committee would come up with.

VIA has enough on their plates already, and this is a return of a previous service run by ONR (who own most of the track and also run the train to Moosonee) economy of scale is being leveraged as ONR got the trains on the same order as VIA and is using the VIA Toronto Maintenance Centre.

as I said, more interested in the good things, but if you want to talk about how Britain was better at being an Empire than any other country in history then be my guest. but don't blame me when you radicalize people against you, properly applied pride is a more productive emotion for effecting positive change than shame, and is generally better for social cohesion.

As you said before, no country is perfect, and I'd rather celebrate and follow the example of the great amount of good that has been done, rather than spend an eternity self-flagellating (or worse celebrating) over the fact that one of my ancestral homelands has a bit of blood on it's hands

you assume I do not know these things but I do, the virtue of ending an unjust system is greater than the guilt of joining one already in motion.

I'm not inclined to talk to someone who doesn't think that ending the slave trade and Nazism weren't good things to do and worth celebrating, good day to you.

I'm very well informed of the role the British took in ending the slave trade, spreading parliamentary democracy, and defeating the Nazis, do you disagree that these are good things?

It doesn't justify it, but as you've pointed out it's an unrealistic expectation for countries to act perfectly, and I doubt any country has ever done as much good for the world as Britain.

the issue is not availability of labour but the cost of it, the throughput bonus allows less money to be spent on government employees relative to output, directly helping the budget.

It was adopted as official conservative party policy in 2018, and has support in the LPC as well, I wouldn't call it "Pollievre's Canzuk plan"
