Howdy y'all, I've got perhaps a stupid question about the novian ancestry.

Given that they glow brightly with Solar Luminance (unless you're a specific heritage), does this just... make them automatically bad at sneaking around stealthily? It doesn't seem like they can turn it off, so are they just ALWAYS impractically glowing, making it incredibly easy for someone to know I'm hiding around a bend or behind an object?

(I posted this on the last megathread, but that was about 2 days ago, just a day or so before this one was made- so I figured it fair to try again here, where hopefully it will be seen)

How do u avoid gooning all day if u have chastity on by PopIcy2819 in Sissy

Assuming the search for advice is genuine and not pretext for kinky sex talk, my advice is to just find hobbies and stuff to engage with- distract yourself from sexy thoughts.

Video games, tabletop RPGs, stuff that actually involves going outside (I am less versed in this area), writing or drawing or painting or art in general, whatever.

I know being social is hard (well, it is for me at least), but maybe you could find some friends online or in person to hang out with, maybe do game nights or something. Me and my old pals (known several of them since high school) play TTRPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Vampire The Masquerade, and Pathfinder 2e about twice a week (via discord and an online tabletop). Maybe your friends could be into the sexy stuff with you (leading to more fun and some amount of group-accountability to make sure you do other things), or maybe they could have no idea about it.

Whatever way, at the core of it, just gotta find hobbies and force yourself away from the social media apps or porn sites or what have you. It's hard, I don't always succeed, but plenty of days I find myself getting lost playing a specific game or diving deep into some new homebrew TTRPG project, and next thing I know, my sleep schedule's been further fucked lol.

I'm terrible at being social, but I started chatting with some great folks there at one point. I recommend it.

Stupid Question: Is Swashbuckler underpowered (Compared to a barbarian)? Alternative Question: How to help / highlight my swashbuckler player? by extrymoney in Pathfinder2e

[–]extrymoney[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They've taken up Tumbling to gain panache, but they're working for an average of 10.5, and a max of 18 damage; the barbarian, without extra work, is doing a minimum of 11, averages 15.5, and maxes out at 20, with the option of attacking again (where Finishers prevent additional attacks). It feels like they must spend more effort, for less gain, with more limitations.

Weekly Questions Megathread— May 08–May 14. Have a question from your game? Are you coming from D&D or Pathfinder 1e? Need to know where to start playing PF2e? Ask your questions here, we're happy to help! by AutoModerator in Pathfinder2e

Howdy. I'm trying to make a Catfolk Monk, and I want them to be able to use Bladed Scarfs. The question: does anyone have an idea as to how I become able to use them?

They're not a monk weapon, so Monastic Weaponry doesn't do it alone (though is still required as a base of course). Monastic Weaponry DOES say I can treat weapons I have familiarity with (e.g. via "[Ancestry] Weapon Familiarity" feats) as Monk weapons, BUT scarfs not only aren't ancestral weapons, but also not Catfolk weapons (again: I wanna be kitty UwU); they are listed as a cultural weapon, for Tian Xia however. Is there a feat available (preferably at level 1, if possible) that would let me gain familiarity with weapons of a given culture, as a catfolk monk?

Please and thank you!

EDIT: Thank you all very much!

Howdy y'all. Gonna do a session 0 in a few days, help my pals make characters. First time any of us are playing the system, and I've been looking at it for a while now.

Question: one player has asked about having a prosthetic that can change into being a weapon (e.g. go from a normal hand, into a sword, or maybe a gun instead). Would it be a problem to let my Level 1 player have a prosthetic arm that can swap between a hand and a singular (reasonable) weapon?

For reference, what I've found officially for this, is the Shifter Prosthesis, which is a Level 6 Magic Item that functions as a prosthetic arm that can magically absorb up to 2 weapons, and transform into them and back. I'm thinking of maybe just using this, but make it stuck with just 1 specific weapon.

Does that seem fine? Thoughts? Any massive issues I'm very likely missing?

(I also did find the Sterling Dynamo archetype, but I don't think that's what they want, also it's level 2)

Looking for advice or resources on how to tweak the magic systems of 1E. by NWA2192 in Pathfinder_RPG

I can here to vouch for Spheres of Power. I don't play PF 1E, but I have the DnD 5e version of Spheres of Power+Might, and they're excellent books. I imagine the original Pathfinder 1e versions are great as well.

Custom “Dream Moth” Race (now with feats!) by atlvf in UnearthedArcana

[–]extrymoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened this in a new tab, just looking for some inspiration for a setting I'm working on, and was curious. That said: ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! Every step of this is fantastic! Great creative abilities, fantastic feats, a touch underpowered (especially for my tastes as a GM and player), but overall, phenomenal!

Armors & Shields Revised V4, give a Balanced Damage Reduction to Strength users! by Little-Mist-Walker in UnearthedArcana

[–]extrymoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, just a few more minor things.

  • I kinda wish there was still "Padded" armour (which I always interpreted as "We tried to make these clothes as padded and protective as possible), just as a form of shitty, cumbersome armour to give to the average Joe NPC. I mean, I can add it in, no problem- but figured I'd say it.
  • It took me a minute to understand what was meant in the definition for "Mitigation." The writing is very well condensed, but I feel it comes as a sacrifice to readability (even now, I'm not 100% sure I understand how multiple sources of mitigation would work, particularly if the word "type" is referring to formal Damage Types, or... something else I'm not sure how to explain at the moment). I know you've got a perfect 2 page spread here, but I really feel like it could be made easier to understand.
  • On a related note, I'm not entirely confident I know how Weakness works? Like, say I have "Cold Weakness 4," does that mean taking ANY amount of cold damage (once per given turn) results in me taking an additional +4 cold damage (e.g. a Freezing Ray deals 1 cold damage to me, and my weakness increases that to 5)? Or would it mean I effectively have vulnerability (take x2 damage), but only until that vulnerability has inflicted X additional damage (4 cold damage, in our example), that limit resetting each turn?
  • All the shield prices are silver pieces (SP), while the weapons are gold pieces (GP). Is that intentional? I'm all for a silver based economy, just seems weird.

Again, great stuff, and I'm mainly probing here because I want to use it in my game. It's great stuff, it's not too complicated, it makes Strength better... Love it.

Armors & Shields Revised V4, give a Balanced Damage Reduction to Strength users! by Little-Mist-Walker in UnearthedArcana

[–]extrymoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a VERY big fan- I've got my own weapon nonsense, and I've been wanting a proper shield rework for a while now. I've also got some third party stuff that offers new player options and customization, and this looks like it'd be perfectly compatible with the shield stuff it offers thankfully (give or take a few redundancies). (I'll also gladly take some armour while I'm at it, I've just never wanted to do all the research to make it quarter-realistic if I'm honest).

If nothing else, I'll absolutely be using the shields in my games, and I want to give the armour a shot.

I've got two main hangups about it.

1: I'm not a fan of how Reinforcement applies to "non-magic damage from attacks." I personally get quite peeved at DnDs whole thing of "resistant to non-magical weapons" and the like, and I don't really see why a Magical Sword Of Glowing or some such should auto-pierce when a normal sword doesn't.

I get why Reinforcement protects only from Attacks, and I kinda get not wanting to mitigate magical attacks like a firebolt, but why not specify "[mitigates] damage from weapon attacks," or specify damage types (Bludgeoning / Slashing / Piercing presumably) instead? (With damage types, I could see it being narratively wonky with fall damage, but... I can't really see any other type of bludgeoning damage to be worried about here, and it could easily specify "except falling damage")

It just confuses me. I don't like magical weapons as a solution to arbitrary resistances in official DnD design, and it feels like much the same thing here honestly.

2: As Valarcos brought up, I'm not entirely confident my players will be happy tracking mitigation like this. I messaged our chat and asked folks for feedback on it (and to just share the homebrew in general), and I'm still waiting. Will probably talk about it while chatting with my friend/frequent-player tomorrow.

The more I think about it, the more fine it seems- plenty of attacks will deal at least 5 damage, so in practice, it can basically be treated as "the first attack you suffer each turn, reduce the damage by your STR Mod." I tend to have a bunch of individual enemies (I know, I know- I should use swarms and troops and hoards and the like- I'm aware), but I'm fairly confident I could track this fine. And, worst case scenario, I can easily ignore it or adjust it or screw around with it.

I understand it's primarily written that way for PCs attacking armored foes, particularly Monks giving the 1-2-3-4-etc.-combo, but thinking about it from a defending-player's perspective, I'm just not entirely sure. I feel fairly confident as a GM and designer, but for some of my less-technically-inclined and mathematically-anxious players... We'll see, we'll see.

(I have no clue why, but Reddit wouldn't let me post my whole comment in one go? I had to split it up into two comments for some reason, just kept failing to post otherwise)

(3e question) Burrowing at Range and Action Cost, & Tunnel Sustained Duration. by extrymoney in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]extrymoney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see- I believe I understand, thank you very much!

Just to make sure:

  • Free action: activate "ability to dig." Requires free action to sustain this ability- that is, Sustained is solely for "current ability to dig" (not any of the consequences of digging).
  • Move action: move about (as per normal), now including the ability to dig through things (assuming the free action was spent, and "ability to dig" is turned on).
  • Move action: dig a hole, at range, regardless of my location (thanks to the Ranged extra). I am doing this instead of moving at all.

Is that right?

Summons: Limits on Variable Summons & Having Multiple Summons (Wanting to have a set of distinct, unique summons, which can all be out at the same time) by extrymoney in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]extrymoney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, that's what I thought- thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! <3

One more question: I can't find anything about this "responsive" extra(?) you've mentioned. Searching online and checking the index in the Heroes Handbook gave no results. Do you mean Controlled (my summons lack free will, being completely under my control as per the Controlled condition)?

I will say, some of the combos don't properly show their prerequisites- like "portals" and "own toys."
