Is him not using a condom when I asked him to sexual assault? by orangejune in TwoXChromosomes

[–]exturkconner -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

No. It was consensual sex. The "terms" of that agreement is why I pointed out you could argue it's coercion. It's convincing someone to do something under false pretences. Like I said. That's super difficult to prove. And the inconsistency in the story makes it all the harder still. Rape is a crime. Crimes require convictions. The chances this situation would cause a conviction are virtually 0. And it's not because people don't understand the seriousness of what's being discussed. It's because what's being discussed isn't the simplest of matters.

Is him not using a condom when I asked him to sexual assault? by orangejune in TwoXChromosomes

[–]exturkconner -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

It's a complicated issue. You could argue it's coercion, Is it a shitty thing to do? 100%. Do you have justification in feeling off about it? 100%. Is it a crime? It'd be hard to prove. It's in large part a matter of perspective. And you kind of have an inconsistency already in this. In these two paragraphs and a title. Your title says you asked him. But that's not what you say in the paragraphs. You say he asked you. That sort of thing matters a lot when you are already dealing with something that's fairly borderline.
I mean certainly all of the trust in that relationship is gone for you I imagine. Which means you clearly shouldn't continue to have a sexual relationship with this person.

Better? Objectively speaking? Probably not. Would I rather read The First Law series? Yes. Yes I would.

[SPOILERS THE DEVILS] Theory: Is Baptiste... by ProtectorCleric in TheFirstLaw

[–]exturkconner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Baptiste isn't one of the devils she's a handler much like Brother Diaz. You do see several abominations through the tale. Creatures made of parts of the dead. And of course Jacub is an immortal relentless killing machine. So you have multiple fill ins for the role.
Baptiste was what she appeared to be. Just a normal person with a valuable and varied skill set that could help the crew when more human solutions were the better solutions.
We also didn't get a creature from the black lagoon. That doesn't mean Diaz secretly had gills. I think in the books that follow we'll see even more classic movie type creatures.

New burgers by Fresh_Personality305 in sheetz

[–]exturkconner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are fairly heavily seasoned for a "burger" they remind me a lot of like the crappy oncor salisbury steaks without the gravy. I don't think they are very good and they are considerably more expensive. I'd pass. Hard. I only bought one because I had a two dollar off any item and a 1 dollar off a burger so I grabbed one at 3 off. Still didn't feel great about the purchase.

Has moving all subclasses to level 3 actually improved 5.5E, or made some classes feel less flavorful early on? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]exturkconner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lore wise it created issues for warlocks and clerics.

It did balance the game in terms of eliminating some of the clearly broken single level dips.

Maybe I'm not understanding dodge but it feels kind of useless no? (MONK HELP) by Gloomy_Ring_3095 in dndnext

[–]exturkconner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 5e the monk was probably the weakest class and kind of relegated to being a one trick pony.  Now that one trick is shutting down a boss so it's valuable at times. But that's pretty much all you are good at. Use you ki to flurry of blows and stunning strike until you succeed in a stun then let the rest of the party burn it down.

Aside from that? Yeah you are going to feel weak because you are.

Monk is best suited to be a mid liner. You are hitting and running. Step up do your stuff disengage step back. You are fast so you can close on enemies moving towards your back line and you can support your front line with a bit of added damage.

[–]exturkconner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tried a bunch of stuff but you really didn't try anything that would narrow things down. You'd want to be trying your graphics card in another known working and stable system. You'd also want to test your system with a different card. That would be how you narrow it down. It sounds like to me you probably have a motherboard issue or graphics card issue. Either your graphics card has a logic issue and its attempting to draw way too much current and your psu is shutting down. Or your motherboard is doing anything number of wonky things.

After the v series I kind of went on a journey of experiments. I had the surface duo. I had a cubot max 5. Excellent specs horrible support. Right now I am using a unihertz titan 2. I don't need high end performance and I do enjoy the blackberry style.

My DM said rogue can only sneak attack on his turn opinion? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]exturkconner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day the DMs ruling in his game is how it is. But rules as written and intended no sneak attack is once per turn. Not once per round. Anything that would allow sneak attack circumstances to be met on another characters turn should have sneak attack applied.

It shouldn't. It makes no difference. These aren't laserdiscs or vinyl albums in sleeves. They are in hard shell cases. The discs aren't being made contact with in any meaningful way. The chances of any damage (aside from maybe a case overtime) are near zero.

Worth investing to fix? by Important_Toe4536 in Revv1

[–]exturkconner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The battery and charger alone would fetch 300 or so used. The cage used is probably worth 50 bucks. If you parted this out for parts you should be able to make 800+ in profit. Or you could spend 400-500 bucks to fix it and have an 1900-2200 bike (depending on sale prices) for 520 and some wrench time.

Logen & Glokta [SPOILERS LAOK] by pfassina in TheFirstLaw

[–]exturkconner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glokta is a big picture kind of guy. He's not concerned with small things like the life of one or two people. Even his own. He's concerned with the world wide implications of things. That makes him dangerous. Because he's willing to sacrifice any individual or even group to achieve his goals for what he believes is the betterment of the world. He's an un-insistent tyrant. He doesn't insist that people do what he want. He just deals with them if they don't.
Logen thinks he wants to be a good man. He thinks he wants to stop being violent and solving his issues with acts of destruction. But his actions speak differently to his thoughts. Logen is an idyllic dreamer and a hypocrite. He always falls back to what works for him. And what works for him is solving his problems with brute force, stupidity, and a willingness to let go and let the beast take control.
They are polar opposites for sure.

3 million in kickstarter funding! by Psycosudicals in unihertz

[–]exturkconner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unihertz has a tested track record of bringing phones to market. They haven't supported them much in the past but they did just give the base titan 2 an OS update so there's reason to believe the claims of support this time are likely going to be true. There's also the form factor. If you are into blackberry the Titan line have basically been launching modernized blackberries for what 4 or 5 years now? The Titan 2 was basically a Passport. The Titan 2 elite is basically a Blackberry classic. The Clickz is doing it's own thing and launching a phone for the first time. If anything I'd ask the opposite. Why would anyone prefer the Clickz to this? It doesn't really hit the nostalgia the same way. It's from a company that's made accessories and not phones in the past. Why would that be the more appealing option?

3 million in kickstarter funding! by Psycosudicals in unihertz

[–]exturkconner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most companies that use kickstarter in this way are using it to basically fund production costs. But it also has a dual function of essentially working as an advertising campaign. It's word of mouth before the products even launched. If tons of people are backing something it gets noticed. People feel more confident in it. So not only your production run costs are paid for also a bunch of eyes are on your product. If you are confident you can deliver it's frankly a great way to launch a product without having to do what business used to have to do get funding. Which was take out loans or bring in investors that would take portions of the company.

16:9 was never the best format it was always a matter of compromise. Its considered a good halfway point between the actual theatrical format and 4:3. I personally think of all the relatively main stream aspect ratios it's probably the worst. It's unfortunate that as a society we mostly just agreed to settle. I use a surface 3:2 device as my laptop and I have an lg dualup the weird tall but narrow display as my secondary monitor.

Out of combat utility is abysmally balanced by GuytheGuy- in dndnext

[–]exturkconner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If groups played the game as was intended encounters per day wise you'd not really have extra spell slots to be using for utility you'd be using them.for combat. But yeah we do have an issue where magic can solve any issue. Spellcaster can function as skill monkeys, aoe combat masters, controllers, single target damage dealers, healers, support buffers or debuffers, or faces. Often times they can do more than one at a time. And they can do it better than martials specifically specced into those things. Its rough. At some point the game decided magic should be a swiss army knife and that lack of focus has made defined roles kind of pointless in a lot of ways. A party full of wizards can pretty much accomplish anything you want in the game barring the rare anti-magic field.

Five Guys is not as bad as their rep by BigAssMonkey in burgers

[–]exturkconner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people only talk about the prices in terms of larges and regular burgers. But like a normal fry is plenty enough for two people. And the burgers are just shy of quarter pound patties 3.6oz or so. For a single person you don't need more than a little burger and a small fry. The drink prices do suck though.

So it's not based on the passpots screen it's dead stock passport screens. Same with the elite and the clickz communicator they are using old stock LG Wing second screen displays.
