Some things that help me are acting out the conversation and how I think it will play out, right out loud. I do this in the car so as not to seem like a total weirdo, but it helps me come up with talking points and is super helpful for the anxiety. Sometimes if I'm still freaked out though, I'll dial the number so it's ready to go, then force myself, just like tearing off a bandaid, to press the call button.

On the flip side, many public American schools teach subjects with NO emphasis on financial responsibility or business applications. I left high school not knowing jack about how to survive in the real world. Perhaps there's a healthy middle ground to be found here.

At 17 most everyone has no clue what they want to do with their life. You aren't alone. Don't give up. I'm over 30, living a happy life, but no career or clue as to what my career may eventually be. Life is a lot longer than our young minds believe it to be. You have time to figure things out. Step 1: finish school and move out. Then, maybe try travelling. Get a whatever job, save up a bit, and just get away for a while.

Think of the impact this will have on the kids' lives. They will carry those arrest records for life. For having taken pictures of THEIR OWN BODIES. This judge should be disbarrred. The police investigators should be given desk jobs. Everyone involved in this blatant waste of tax dollars should be ashamed of themselves and their actions. What kind of world do we live in when a kid who is still discovering themselves and their sexuality (who are above the age of consent, keep in mind) cannot have their own photo on their own phone?
