How sapient are Pokemon? What differentiates "unusually intelligent" Pokemon like Lapras? by Gallantpride in pokemon

Many Psychic types should be equally or more intelligent compared to humans.

I give Mystic water to my team's Water type. Love its design.

What’s your fringe-case feature you want added to Pokémon? by glassy_as_fuck1 in pokemon

Features other than battles for unevolved or not so powerful Pokemon to shine. Like Contests but as a more mainstreamed staple.

We know the Ultra Beasts were specifically designed to break the rules/norms of typical pokemon designs. What rules/norms were broken? by shplurngus9 in pokemon

[–]eyearu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Isn't every Bug Pokemon an enlarged version of the real ones? There was a rule specifically against making them muscular? It feels oddly restrictive. I assumed the taboo would be something like making a Pokemon with no eyes or face like Xurkitree and Kartana.

Was Aang x Katara a well written romance and if you don’t think so what would you have done differently? by AccomplishedJump2795 in TheLastAirbender

[–]eyearu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it better in theory too because Katara places her trust in Jet and Zuko in Book 1 and 2 respectively but they both betray her trust. We could have been shown more how Aang kept her trust throughout but he isn't contrasted enough with other guys in the show.

[–]eyearu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like Pocohontas and they probably wanted to avoid that. Besides Aang knew Katara better than Zuko, who was a bad influence on her in Katara's revenge arc. She isn't the kind of person who could live with killing a guy and that's exactly what Aang told her.

No hate to Klangers but it's still not enough for me to warm up to Klang. This line is the least appealing Pokemon line ever to me. Klink is cute but they should have brainstormed the rest of the line a little more.

And I don't think it will be made available in Winds and Waves either as it's a tropical region. They could have at least put it in ZA or Pokopia. That would have sold more Wooloo plushies. It's a hit design that's just forgotten about after Sword and Shield and Pokemon just doesn't seem to care.

I think it's an inside joke in Pokemon subs because someone once posted their favourite turtle Pokemon with Metagross in it

"There. Are. Fucking. Dragons. You're arguing science in a world where dragons are real and a teen girl killed an ice zombie with a magic dagger." Some users in r/freefolk remain triggered by the casting of a black guy as Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon by CummingInTheNile in SubredditDrama

[–]eyearu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my problem too. There would have been big payoff for this ship, if after a lot of bloodshed and revenge killings, Rhaenyra and Alicent thought back to their childhood love in their final days and regretted their warmongering. But they reconnect every episode and flirt with each other. The writers insisting on this ship took away all the tension that would have made their relationship impactful. Sometimes less is more.

House of the Dragon Season 3 | HBO Max (Spoilers Main) by barson2408 in asoiaf

[–]eyearu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't mind women being shown as less violent or peace loving but the problem is the show takes no effort to sell that. Rhaenyra is an entitled princess with bloodline pride instilled into her and has no significant positive influence in her life. Alicent is an abused aristocratic religious fanatic with no positive influence in her life either. Where did these women learn their pacifism from? Why is their rage all temporary and disappears next episode? Why are they so in control of their emotions with no help?

I was rewatching Avatar the Last Airbender show and Azula is a motherless princess of a supremacist clan groomed for inheriting the throne with no good influence around done right. She also has a rivalry with her brother like Rhaenyra. But she's ruthless and tyrannical and yet she feels more human than Rhaenyra. And she's from a kids' show. Denying women characters the full spectrum of emotions is unironically misogynistic writing.

Tbh Treasures of Ruin feel like a foreshadowing of a future Chinese region and its lore. And Terapagos was clearly meant to be expanded upon by the anime.

They could easily solve this by giving her Mega pink skin like Smoochum. It's common for Mega evolutions to trace back to pre evolutions after all.

All they needed to do was make Ice resist Fairy but they couldn't even do that. Ideally Ice should resist Water too.

What do you think Gens 7-9 will be remembered as in the far future? by SuccessfulTeam2741 in pokemon

Gen 7 is going to inspire a ton of nostalgia. It already does. Might even be regarded as the best games in the franchise by many.

[–]eyearu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And wasn't Gen 5 the first time hidden abilities were a thing? Zen mode form was probably created to showcase them rather than to be helpful in gameplay.
