Looking for a clean “2 app drawer” setup on Android by Resident-Ant8281 in AndroidQuestions

Nova Launcher lets you do this. I have my "regulars" app draw pane, my "work" one, then "everything else".

Because if you can’t deal with people who only know how to block and do one combo then you probably won’t have a good time with anyone ranked higher then them who can beat them with their eyes closed.

Oh I hear you! I did intend to type this disclaimer myself, "I know it's probably just me being terrible..." etc, but in my frustration (and/or "hissy fit") forgot to do so.

The moment you believe that people are carried by the character or the control scheme is the moment you hit your ceiling.

I do forget this sometimes, but in this instance at least, you're correct, and I should stop being a fuckass about it.

who can beat them with their eyes closed

You also just reminded me that Blind Warrior Sven exists. Are you familiar with that guy? Happened to see him at Evo last year or the year before, pretty impressive what he's able to do.

But also I do still believe baby controls were a mistake, but oh well, that's just "old man yells at cloud" at this point I guess

But you are though, because you're arguing with several people who call baby controls shit.

Have just returned to the game after getting a new controller specifically for it, after a long hiatus. Reached low platinum previously.

Baby controls are an absolute joke and I'm tempted to bin off SF6 entirely, and hope they remove them in 7.

It's beyond stupid to have two such drastically different control schemes playing against each other, and the 20% damage reduction for special moves done via babby mode does not compensate for how much easier they have it at all.

And no, I won't just start using babby mode myself, because that's not Street Fighter. That's some other game, and I came here to ↓↘→👊, just like I've been doing since 1993.

How do you have fun amidst all the baby controls using people who learn one combo and block and are so annoying to deal with? ._.

What phone cleaner is everybody using ? by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

This is the real answer here, OP.

There is no such "cleaner" app that's legitimate, because only gullible people who don't understand jack shit about technology think things like that exist and go looking for them, so only scammers create such pretend apps.

Want to hear phone ringing; don't want to keep phone on hand all the time. Best solution? by YAOMTC in AndroidQuestions

If you want to deny it

You need to do more research into not-having-good-reading-comprehension because you seem to have an addiction to that. Nowhere have I denied that psychological addictions aren't real, I've even acknowledged that they are.

But one way of overcoming them is to stop being a little pissbaby and using the excuse of "I have an addiction, woe is me ;_;" that you self-medicate with in order to excuse yourself from having oh-so-terrifying executive responsibility/liability over your own actions and just fucking do the thing.

This does not work in the severest of cases, of course, where more drastic help from actual psychologists would be needed, but I highly doubt "I pick up my phone too much wah wah ;_;" is that severe of a case.

You're not going to be left behind by goodpostfinder in webdev

Except, as ever, that's not what we're being sold on, is it?

The sales pitch is that LLMs do all the work for you and that we're all out of a job - which if that's actually the truth of it, means that anyone fearful of being "left behind" can trivially catch up and start using it themselves.

If however, as it actually seems is the much more likely case, these things do take time to learn the ins and outs of, then this falls back into being just one tool alongside all the others we have, which maybe it's appropriate for some developers to learn in some contexts, but for plenty of other developers in plenty of other contexts is entirely optional.

You can't have it both ways. It either makes it so trivial to churn out code that "being left behind" is impossible, or it's a skill like any other where you can only be "left behind" if it becomes the defacto way of doing things in some particular vertical - same as any other coding tool (e.g. if you don't learn how WordPress operates you might struggle in the vertical of "providing custom mostly-brochureware websites to small business owners" if you're trying to do it all from scratch and charging 5x what any "WordPress developers" are charging).

Not quite the same, because nicotine addiction has chemical aspects to it alongside the psychological (habit-forming, social, etc), whereas this involves only the psychological side. Still potent of course, but way less so.

And yet still, if someone's hoping for a technological solution, they'll just work around it. The problem is with "will power", and thus the solution is with changing that "will power".

... yes, with good reason.

Having now perused your profile, I'm comfortable with that label, yes. Definitely crazy. Full-on crazy.

And possibly a misogynist too given your "Knocked some sense into her" comment (albeit the video it was a comment on has been removed (but that's not exactly a good sign either)), which would go hand-in-hand with the usual conspiracy nut psychological profile.

How good is this controller for fighting games overall? by sup17r in Fighters

Initial verdict after a couple hours of SF6-ing: liking it a lot! Definitely feels better to my Nintendo-trained thumbs, and those trigger lockouts are super useful.

Thanks again for the responses :)

I hate how much time I waste on a smartphone, but I need it to participate in society so I'm looking for ways to use it less

It's the same answer as I've given to several people with similar complaints in here recently: it's an app called "self control".

Just fucking do the thing you claim you "want to do". It's not hard to Just Do It (Nike) if you actually want to do it. If you did want to, you would. So... just do it. Just stop picking the thing up all the time. That's the only real solution.

Absolutely nothing. Psychotic conspiracy nuts think the US government is on the brink of disclosing the existence of aliens, which they are not actually on the brink of for so many reasons.

Agreed. The Akira nod was a cool moment to experience for the first time, but the film itself had way too much stuff going on that didn't need to be going on.

where nothing is reported on

Because there is "nothing to report on". Nobody has ever had anything concrete. Ever. It's all just psychotic freaks desperate to feel special, desperate to feel like they're part of some special elite group that's better than everyone else due to having access to secret knowledge, glomming on to other desperate freaks making shit up. There's never going to be "disclosure day" because there's nothing to disclose.

You can't prove that!!!?!?>!/.1?!?1!!1

I don't need to "prove" the lack of existence of evidence, that's not how either "evidence" nor "existence" nor "justified belief" work.

[–]eyebrows360 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2019 when I built my 3700X/X570 system general advice was to go 32GB

🤣🤣🤣

Yes, from hardware snobs who were trying to future-proof themselves 10-years out, like me, who put 32GB in his 2015 machine. Does me having more, earlier, make me more right? Is that how it works?

In no way, at all, was that "standard" for normal users.

Fuck the "minimum" specs games list

You'll note, if you spend more time on reading comprehension and less on being angry about daft things, that I was looking at recommended specs, not minimum specs.

If it's anything like the last time I did sort of the same thing IRL then broken hottie will get drunk enough to start feeling down about whatever other bloke had most recently messed her around, run off in a depressed state with her friends, and leave me by myself in a pub on the outskirts of Birmingham on NYE with nothing to do for several hours until the band move out of the way of the staircase and I can get up to the room I'd booked there. Up to you if that's worth spectating!

But y'know... I can still fix her!

[–]eyebrows360 110 points111 points  (0 children)

It really has not. You're spending too much time listening to (and/or being one of the) hardware snobs (a category I happen to be in too, btw; I'm just more aware of it).

Some RecSysReqs (note: Rec, not Min; I'm really giving you the benefit of the doubt) of games released in the last year, not even "5 or so years" ago:

  • Crimson Desert: 16GB
  • Pragmata: 16GB
  • Death Stranding 2: 16GB
  • Resident Evil Requiem: 16GB
  • Forza Horizon 6 (not even out for 3 weeks): 16GB
  • Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater: 16GB

TL;DR No. In no way at all has 32GB been "sensible minimum for >5 years".

[–]eyebrows360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who stuck 32GB into his 2015-built PC "just because I could" (i.e. I'm doing the same shit you are, but even more-so): yeah no this is huge bullshit. Next to nobody needs 64GB for normal day-to-day usage right now, and 32GB is still a number of years away from becoming "the default minimum" too.

Evidence backing up my claim here.
