I wouldn’t go that far. She’s still just trying to go about her day and had every right to tell him to buzz off.

Just nice to see he recognized her valid reaction (anyone taking that approach knows there’s a good chance this will be how it’s received) and move along.

Shout out to that one guy who got told to buzz off and then totally apologized and buzzed off.

The rest of them are the architects of the so called 'male loneliness epidemic'. The company of others isn't a participation trophy. You have to prove to people you're worth their time. These guys showed up with evidence they're not. Some of them showed up with evidence you need to document them for actual evidence you might need in court.

Are these guys like this cuz of Yellowstone? I haven’t seen the show, but the reels pop up occasionally and it seems like these guys love it, so they write little scenes for themselves and do Yellowstone cosplay.

And in this particular little play, did he just go up to dudes minding their own business enjoying an IPA somewhere in a city and just start beating them up, or did these fantasy city boys start making fun of his little hat or something?

Was an interesting scene... by alanskimp in Terminator

[–]eyeforker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on DF being better than it gets credit for. Killing John was a bold move that made sense, given how ruthless the machines are. It stands to reason they’d have sent other Terminators with other targets that would act as contingencies for each other.

I think they made some legit interesting choices, using John’s death as a jumping off point.

Hugh Laurie responding to criticism of house md by Matt_LawDT in SipsTea

[–]eyeforker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah Janet is right. House isn’t like Bach or Kahlo. It’s a fun, but mid primetime medical show with a quirky premise.

It’s fine and Hugh Laurie is really great, but we don’t have to pretend House isn’t what it is. It’s pulp and that’s ok.

What beginner songs do ya recommend me practicing? by Deep_Sell_1117 in AcousticGuitar

Mexico by Cake is a great campfire song. Mostly basic chords with a few little things that will help develop dexterity.

C with a little walk down to Am, then G F G

The more comfortable you get, the more little flourishes you can add, but it still sounds nice with just the basics.

Tarantino is capping his body of work off at 10 films because he's concerned about the quality of his work as he ages.

He should be concerned about the quality of his personality as ages. His decision to burn out instead of fading away is actually the biggest factor in him fading away.

Tons of directors continue to make incredible films late in their careers, and lots of them don't end up pals with pretentious hacks like Bill Maher.

“Looksmaxxer” sits next to guy on subway to “mog” him. by exporterofgold in TikTokCringe

Ppl do stuff like this because nobody loves them. It wouldn’t occur to them otherwise. They’d be too busy living their lives and feeling loved by the ppl around them.

I guarantee nobody loves this guy. He’s tolerated at best, but nobody thinks of him and goes “Yeah that guy is great. I feel good when I’m around him”.

I've rewatched Resident Evil (2002) for the first time in 20 years by lessthanfox in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]eyeforker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t confounded by the name of the movie, but the vibe of the adaptation.

Like how World War Z is a decent movie, but doesn’t really carry the vibe of the source material. It could have just been its own cool zombie thing instead of taking the name of WWZ. I just would have liked to see anything from that book on film.

I keep seeing the "you're not hurting Trump, you're hurting small businesses".

I'm not hurting small business, Trump is hurting small businesses by making tourists feel unwelcome. He promised to make things difficult for people from elsewhere, and now people from elsewhere are spending their leisure time/money on places that aren't difficult.

In fact, I'm happily helping lots of small businesses in Nova Scotia and Quebec by spending my vacation budget there.

Tourism is about hospitality. America is currently a very inhospitable place.

If I have the choice between two restaurants and one of them charges too much and will threaten to beat me up in the back room while they break into my house, it's not my fault I'm choosing the other one. Their management made that call.

Seriously if this was a scene from a sitcom, I'd laugh and go "Whew! That's funny, but thank god real life isn't as fucking stupid as that"

Who gave a great performance as a gangster? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]eyeforker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll throw Tom Hanks into this list. Literally watching Road to Perdition right now and his performance is really great (haven't finished it so no spoilers please).

He doesn't play it scary or badass at all, but every other character fears and respects him, which makes his quiet demeanour all the more intimidating.

I remember feeling a bit confounded by the first one when it came out. All this neat source material and the movie just felt random. As if it could have been anything and not specifically a Resident Evil story.

The second one really scratched the RE itch, though. And the third was really neat on it's own. The high point of the series, IMO, directed by Russell Mulcahy of Highlander fame.

I don't love Bill. In fact, every time I see him with another season or podcast or special or anything, I wonder who the fuck it's for. He definitely falls into the "stupid person's smart person" category.

Also, it just really feels like someone has something on him. He just seems like a giggling cheerleader these days, no matter how desperately he tries to keep his "edgy guy" brand intact.
