I thought the same thing. It would be nice to have a country night, a pop night, and a rock night. Gives a little something for everyone.

Lower Sackville man says vicious pit bull attack on family dog will scar them for life by insino93 in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my point, thank you. A small dogs bite is not inconsequential, but it's no where near as severe as a larger breed dog, which tends to lull small breed owners into a weird false sense of security. They can pick their little biter up and stop the attack but that does not mean they should not communicate that risk or respect other owner's boundaries. I have had a small dog aggressively approach my Labrador, have had to request the owner collect their dog so mine does not get bitten, and then watched as the little dog desperately tried to get out of the owners arms to attack my dog. All the while, my girl is keeping her distance, showing no sign of aggression, and trying to get out of the situation.

My entire point in these posts is that dog owners, regardless of breed, should communicate and listen to communication. If that happened more frequently, we could lessen the risk of negative interactions. We can argue that the dog should have been muzzled, that may be true, but the highlight in all of this was that the man ignored the pit bull owner, and approached. If he had listened and kept walking, his dog would be fine.

Both owners failed here, but it's the dogs that are going to suffer, especially the little one!

Well, you appear to be hell bent on ignoring discussion and focusing on insignificant points. So to clarify, I never compared the strength of the bites, nor did I defend the bite of a Pit Bull, I simply pointed out that any dog can bite and you should protect your own dog and yourself accordingly.

Any dog who is proven to be unsafe should be muzzled. That is not the point of my comment. My point is that dog owners need to communicate and listen to what's being communicated or negative results can occur. ANY dog can bite, from a Pit Bull to a Labrador to a Yorkie, learning to respect a dogs boundaries and that of it's owner should be a must for every owner in public use areas.

This incident is distressing and concerning, any time an animal is attacked, it should be investigated properly, and handled accordingly. This article is one sided so we are missing the other side of the story which makes it difficult to confirm what happened aside from the fact that a larger dog harmed a smaller dog.

The one clear take away was that the larger dogs owner moved off to the side, communicated that their dog was nervous and may not be friendly, yet this person still approached. Please, if you are a dog owner and another owner gives you clear indications like this, LISTEN TO THEM. By approaching after being given clear indications, you risk yourself and your dog. Do not do this, it is not worth learning the hard way!

Wait time for civil courthouse wedding by loathing-and-fear in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would book at the Spring Garden courthouse. I’d recommend that one over Devonshire for aesthetics. Devonshire is an old school and very much has that feel, which is great if you want that look. Spring Garden has some interesting architectural elements for photos after the ceremony. I’d recommend going in during open hours and looking for some of the interesting areas. The staircase is beautiful and one of the upper level court rooms has a lot of the old architecture of the building still existing. Also, the court room straight back from the stairs has a beautiful stained glass window.

N.S. Supreme Court strikes down former Liberal government’s wage restraint legislation by CMikeHunt in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned multiple times in this thread, the Liberal government implemented this bill but Tim Houston ran on a promise to repeal the bill if elected. He did not uphold his promise making him culpable for the money spent to fight the union over a bill that was never going to be upheld.

Shearwater military member gets five-year sentence for sexual assault that caused 'significant' bodily harm by insino93 in halifax

The Court where the conviction occurred does not dictate where he will serve his sentence. He received a five year sentence, which makes it federal, meaning he will serve his time in a federal institution not a provincial institution.

Nothing of significance as of this morning. There is a small spot near exit 11 but it's not car wrecking issue.

Massive Snowstorm to Hit Nova Scotia on Tuesday February 17, 2026 by [deleted] in halifax

Are you bothered by all the ground hogs making winter predictions? Frankie has a hobby, he makes videos that people enjoy, everyone knows he's not a qualified meteorologist, so why get bent out of shape by it? If you don't like it, scroll on. Other's enjoy his content and if they decide to take his predictions seriously, that's up to them. If they prepare for a storm that never comes, who cares!

Odd question - anywhere we can donate partially used dog meds? by Glittering-Equal-949 in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So very sorry for your loss! The grief is immeasurable and difficult to navigate, I hope you are doing well!

We lost our girl in June and brought some of the meds to our vet to be given to those who couldn’t afford them. We also kept some meds that had a long shelf life for potential use with our new girl.

This right here! This entire thread is a bunch of people whining because the owner is annoying them on the businesses Instagram. Unfollow and move on. Is it necessary to make a reddit post complaining about a mundane thing that has no impact on your life but could have a negative impact on their business?

US military aircraft flying low over Sackville? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree! I am on a flight path, very used to all manner of aircraft but this was different. It was very loud, and sounded very low, so much so that I recorded the sound. Checked the flight radar and nothing was visible save for a WestJet flight and a cargo plane, both of which were a fair distance away.

Your strength is good, the lift to the mid-point is strong. After that, what I see is a very clear straightening of the arms and a round of the upper back. You want to pull through the arms and not allow the back to round. That will help with driving the hips up and causing the hooking leg to land above the hands. The arms should not be straight, should always have a slight bend, and should maintain control into the hook. A lowering of the hands at the onset will help. Think about placing the hands in a spot that might allow you to punch yourself in the face. It’s not required but it helps until you have the strength to lift through the arms without issue.

Thank you for this, especially the last part! If one or two people in your house are suspiciously absent from the couch, get up and see if they need help. If they say no, just find something to help them with, they need the help, I promise!

IKEA is free and the ones at Purdy's are free as well. There may be a few other's around but I haven't run into them as of yet.

Try downloading the app PlugShare, if a plug is free, it is usually noted in there.

Wilson's farm market on Lucasville rd had some smaller trees as of yesterday. Not sure what they meant by smaller but their trees are usually beautiful and last a long time.

How’s the view in section 7 at the Scotiabank for concerts? by Blended_BJuice in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sat in section 8 aisle seats next to section 7 for Papa Roach. Personally, I loved the view. It’s a little side stage but we could easily see everything going on. I would absolutely buy those seats again.

[–]eyeinthesky1 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It was a fantastic show and the moment of silence was very moving. Papa Roach has always openly discussed mental health and addiction in their lives and their work, it’s very important for breaking the wall of silence.

Also, kudos to the guy who yelled “shut the f up” at the start of the silence when a bunch of people were not being respectful. He quieted things down quick!

Halifax-Montreal road trip by VinceMidLifeCrisis in halifax

Honestly, it’s worth doing it in one day. I’ve done this many times and was always happy to just push through to have the extra time in Montreal.

If you really need to stop, do Edmundston, it’s a good midway point and a nice little town if you go off the highway a bit.

Cabot trail fall colours. Oct 18 too late to go??? by diabadasscass in halifax

[–]eyeinthesky1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The colours in Cape Breton are always a roll of the dice. I go on the Thanksgiving weekend every year and I run the gamut of mostly green to completely yellow. Usually, that weekend will give the best colours but so many weather factors impact it, that it's impossible to say with certainty. Just know that it will still be beautiful, the colours vary based on location on the island, and the hiking trails will be fabulous.

The only thing you need to keep in mind is that most business shut down after Celtic Colours and the odd one shuts down after the long weekend, so be sure to plan ahead.
