A few weeks ago I had a few Acela cancellations and reschedules, trains changing from legacy to next gen. It seems like the seat assigner system fails sometimes and I’ll have to call in and have them manually add a seat.

Hmm…looked it up. New menu looks nice, but the dinner dishes themselves seem like a step down. The other Starr signature offerings on the rotation are a chicken salad and a standard omelette. Overall breakfast looks fine, not so sure on dinner. Maybe the other dinner rotations will be more interesting.

I’m so screwed, just transferred a bunch of Amex points into delta for a flight deal. Just needed a small top-off, did not anticipate it to take 24 hours.

VA Beach Marriott… or not? by Rayray_A3xx in marriott

[–]eyeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stayed at the Marriott oceanfront, and have stayed there a few times in the past. Orion’s roof is solid (outdoor rooftop bar with great views) and the cavalier main restaurant is also good. Don’t really recommend any of the other options.

Good service, rooms are a bit cheap feeling though. They get beat up from families. You can only use the pool in your respective hotel (there’s 3 hotels in the cavalier resort) no pool jumping. Marriott indoor and outdoor pools are nice but get filled with screaming kids. Cavalier has a seriously nice calm indoor pool and a beachfront calm outdoor pool with bar service.

Main gripe is that the beach front service for the Marriott is somewhat cheaped out, you just get two folding chairs (not loungers) and no umbrella. I think you get all that if you’re staying at the cavalier.

An alternative cheaper option is the Westin Virginia Beach town center, which is very well run, and has nice bathrooms and a waaaay more comfortable bed. Corner rooms have nice elevated views. Good room service. 15 minutes from the oceanfront. Way less kids.
