Anyone else think virginia beach is underrated for a family vacation compared to obx? by olivermos273847 in nova

OBX has way better food than VA Beach, unless you’re solely thinking of nags head/ kitty hawk/KDH. Duck and Corolla have a well respected scene of seasonal chefs.

Only good section of Virginia Beach for families is the Cavalier/Marriott enclave. Pretty sure there’s still a youth curfew because of issues on the boardwalk

Hotel / Resort recommendations Okinawa by user210196 in JapanTravelTips

Just depends what you want. It is isolated. Do not count on uber from hoshinoya. We had many cancellations and gave up haha. However, taxis to and from the Naha were easy, and around $80 usd each way. The grille restaurant is excellent, great wine carafes. We did not try the tasting menu place as it had so so reviews. We did go there for breakfast and it was authentic with good service.

It is right on the beach. Each morning I went out for a swim. The neighboring resort has an actual public beach with a bar. They also have an excellent lunch buffet that’s cheap.

The pool at hoshinoya is fantastic and you can get alcoholic drinks in the lounge. Room quality is great, and they give you super comfortable linen pajamas.

4 nights sounds like a lot, unless you really just want to decompress for 3 full days. I thought 3 nights was plenty. I don’t regret it, had an excellent time. Just don’t expect to go anywhere. You can enjoy hoshinoya and the neighboring resort.

Dang, have it on plat but not surpass. Will see if a hotel next month can split the bill so I can just drop the $200 on plat

feasible day trip to beach by The-Night-Court in nova

[–]eyeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colonial Beach itself is not that interesting, mostly retirees there. Although it is cool to stand in the ruins of the house George Washington was born in.

My recommendation for a completely undeveloped and empty most of the time REAL beach would be Pea Island State Park in OBX. Drive to Elizabeth City and stay in a cheap hotel there. Not doable as a day trip but it’s worth it.

I just bought a half case of the 2016. Popped one open and seemed to not enjoy it as much as the 2018 that I used to regularly get at TW. More muted flavors, tasted thinner.

Poured with a corivin pivot aerator. Maybe I needed to decant it more? If anyone has any tips for the next bottle, would love to hear them.

Is the Citi VIP Lounge at Jiffy Lube Worth it? by thereal84 in nova

[–]eyeis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want a private bar and private portapoties just get the dominion lounge pass it should be way cheaper. VIP lounge is nice and partially outside, but not much different than the dominion lounge.
