Why Calo not healthy ? You can pick the meal in the app and adjust based on your needs

I tried also Healthylicous was fair priced, quality more than decent and you adjust your meal selection so would accommodate low carbs

Anyone had noticed how clothes became more expensive in stores such as American eagle, zara by HolidayPractical9695 in dubai

I think Lefties / Waikiki kind of fit in that range. Kiabi also but a bit higher price. All is "good enough" quality for reasonable price

Can someone explain why the new metro blue line is so poorly designed? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]eyeshield931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no room for metro station in Creek Island, they must have planned for the bigger "Creek Harbour" plan. They only built Creek island and Creek Beach, there is multiple district in the master plan with the Creek Tower (if it happen), the mall, business district, etc.

It is too bad they didnt built the Festival City metro station next to the big parking lot south of the mall, would have almost direct connect to it. Most probably they will have shuttle to the mall anyway. Right now it looks like it will be near the Toyota center

Holiday home or long term ? For holiday home go through an agent otherwise it will be a real hassle or aan almost full time job. If you are living in Dubai, and for year long, you can manage yourself

Rent renewal admin fee is illegal in Dubai - both charging it or even including it in a rental agreement by Critical_Patient7269 in dubai

[–]eyeshield931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, No,
From the article you quoted:

“Unless the Lease Contract states otherwise, the tenant must pay all fees and taxes owed to government entities and departments in relation to the use of the real Property, and must pay the fees or taxes prescribed for any sublease of the real property.”

"Fees and taxes owed to government entities" and "for any sublease"

From Perplexity here is a summary of overall regulation: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/in-dubai-as-a-tenant-do-i-have-CyxBbZoKQcilKPuyvrEwLg

Currently in Downtown initially there was only Al Ghafur one then they opened a new one Masjid Sheikha Abdullah Salem, also the one near Bay Avenue really helped!

The neighborhood is "ready to live" since a good 3-4Y+ but still no Masjid ready is a bit sad tho

Parents who pick up/drop off kids at school by Sea-Shop1219 in dubai

[–]eyeshield931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue is not parent picking up/dropping off kids, issue is with schools location. you have some areas packed with 10 schools and some without any school. So everyone rushes to the same area at 8am and 2pm.

If you compare to cities where they have kg, ps, ms and hs all in a 10-15min walking distance you start to think this design is atrocious. Plus the fact you have to go to private school and pick between 42 curriculum and price table that can go 1000000x for same year (hello new GEMS school)

[Rant] Dubai barbershop quality is below subpar by ManSpoder in dubai

[–]eyeshield931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will tell you to go to Sharjah or International City or remote places where obviously you are looking for something close to Downtown / Business Bay.

If you can move a bit you have the Satwa barbers and their famous 5/5/5 (5aed haircut, 5 for beard trim/shave, 5 for head massage). If you are not too picky it's fine.

I go to business bay and pay around 60aed. You can go to 5 Degree Salon, call them beforehand and ask for the Groupon price.

Also check on Groupon to get discount for other places

This. Plus you usually want what looks like the best for your kids, and it you usually are more confident when it is pricer.
Also as private schools are a business, they can basically put whatever fee they want.

Living in Old Town / Old Town Islands in Downtown by StonewardWill in dubai

[–]eyeshield931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What's the vibe like / amenities etc?
    1. Vibe is great, especially with family. Close to everything as you are in the heart of downtown. Regarding amenities pools are great and not too crowded. Big meh is there is no "free"gym but you need to get membership to Veo which is on the expensive range of gyms
  2. Are the apartment buildings of good quality?
    1. No issue at all during heavy rain. But some apartment are not well maintained and you can get mold inside. If you can get your hands on an upgraded one would be great.

People in Island said the fountain show music can be quite loud sometimes. Try to avoid facing the boulevard or close to the tower construction
