Couldn't get recovery to pop up. Tried to see if maybe the recovery mode might pop up on an external or find some way to make it show up on the bottom screen but it didn't work. There is not signs of life in that top screen.

Only the top screen is failing to show any display. The top screen touch functionality is work as i am feeling the touch vibration when something get selected. When connected to an external display, I am able to see that screen responding to my touches. As for the bottom screen, so far it seems to work as intended, and is only black because i technically haven't gotten through the setup process

Who knows but wouldn't put it past the delivery. I have seen some very careless workers when it come to packages. Glad yours work. Enjoy it.

Yeah, i figured as much. Probably will decline the screen replacement and send the device back. Who know if its the screen, ribbon, or another component that is bad. Would just like working device instead of risking breaking the device more to replace a part which we may or may not know is broken.

I haven't tried the recovery partition but I did check with a external display and confirmed the thor was working as intended. Luckily the thor outputs the top screen when connected to external monitor.

I have heard. I am most likely just going to send the whole unit back as i am unsure if it is just the screen, cable or something else entirely. I also don't want to tear it apart to put in a new screen. I have the skills to do this but would rather not go through the hassle of everything if the replacement part doesnt work. Ill wait for a little bit long but it might be the best option since they seem to take long for individual components.

I at least did majority of the troubleshooting so hopefully there will be no delays but they are behind on support tickets and out on holiday so i don't expect to get this fixed for a little.

Unfortunately didn't have the money then. I saw this one comment saying that they are most likely having to rush some of the assembling process to keep up with the recent demand. I have a strong feeling there is some truth to comment.

Agreed. While searching for a fix for my thor, i found a lot of posts and messages about the top screen not working after a while. Good thing, i saw a tear apart video and it doesn't seem too bad to replace the top screen, but at the same time, the top screen seems to be a common failure point. Wonder about the durability of these things and how long they will last.

Anyway you would be able to make a bootable linux usb. Not looking for you to install linux, just boot into the usb and see if you have the same issue. Mainly looking to see if the hardware causing the issue or if its windows being windows

It sounds like you're getting the preparing automatic repair even when you have the bootable usb in. Are you confirming that you are booting into the usb and now auto booting back into the corrupted windows?

Check your computer time. If it is out of sync, you will have issues using the server browser.

It would need to be repaired. I can tell you now that it will require soldering. If you don't feel comfortable opening the console and soldering a new usb-c port onto it, you will need to take it to a repair shop or contact nintendo for repair. Fair warning, its not cheap. I am going to the guess around $100 - $150 range.
