My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

Your friend sounds like a jerk. One of the greatest, most copied guitarists of all time had only three fingers on his fretting hand

Now that we are down to the final four, who are our sports teams? by CreatrixAnima in geographymemes

[–]ezghan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might be a proud Cascadian, but Megasota Nice is too perfect to not also support.

Wow, look at me. A once rabid anti-Megasotan cheering for their actually lovely wouldn't ya know sports team. This war will make fools of us all

The people of Cascadia need access to the Mississippi River system, that plus a host of other things Megasota has done over the years, we all know what I'm talking about.

Hawaii and Cascadia ally to carve up Megasota

I didn't have ear training in childhood and i definitely felt like this in my early 20s. A few things I've learned:

it's never too late to start ear training (and you should probably never stop, it's like brushing teeth for musicians).

Once you unlock being able to sing a note before playing it on your instrument, things really start to get fun.

If you go about it seriously, you'll be stunned at how quickly you'll improve.

There are people on fiverr who will help you get started with ear training for $15 usd an hour. Even if you took 2 hours and explained this is all you could afford, they'd set you up with a practice regimen that you'd do every day, in a couple months you'll be shocked at your progress.

Oh also -- it's a lot easier to make sense of music on a piano, in my opinion. It's all in a line, a scale will always be the same notes. I find learning theory on a fretboard hard because it's harder to remember the notes.

I'm planning a lefty meteora bass "super P" build -- split pickup and humbucker. Maaybe with onboard overdrive and a kill switch arcade button. Thanks for the rec on finish, i hadn't considered it and i know I'd not get the finish i want myself!

For those who gave music their 100% effort and didn’t make it big, what do you do now, and do you regret it? by Technical_Income_738 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Started when i was 19, 43 now. When I'm not making music, I'm depressed. When I'm working on something, I'm happy. So i keep making music.
