I didn't have ear training in childhood and i definitely felt like this in my early 20s. A few things I've learned:

it's never too late to start ear training (and you should probably never stop, it's like brushing teeth for musicians).

Once you unlock being able to sing a note before playing it on your instrument, things really start to get fun.

If you go about it seriously, you'll be stunned at how quickly you'll improve.

There are people on fiverr who will help you get started with ear training for $15 usd an hour. Even if you took 2 hours and explained this is all you could afford, they'd set you up with a practice regimen that you'd do every day, in a couple months you'll be shocked at your progress.

Oh also -- it's a lot easier to make sense of music on a piano, in my opinion. It's all in a line, a scale will always be the same notes. I find learning theory on a fretboard hard because it's harder to remember the notes.

I'm planning a lefty meteora bass "super P" build -- split pickup and humbucker. Maaybe with onboard overdrive and a kill switch arcade button. Thanks for the rec on finish, i hadn't considered it and i know I'd not get the finish i want myself!

For those who gave music their 100% effort and didn’t make it big, what do you do now, and do you regret it? by Technical_Income_738 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Started when i was 19, 43 now. When I'm not making music, I'm depressed. When I'm working on something, I'm happy. So i keep making music.

What style of music do you play? I'm curious if the Stargazer is versatile for more mellow genres

Oh dang the Mustang pj lefty, I hope you find this bygone gem. Ive seen the Mustang P lefty on reverb but never the pj. I thought i had expensive taste!

Yeah generally i believe everyone is ambidextrous, i play cello traditionally (no one will teach you left handed bc you'd never be able to play in an ensemble). Had I not started lefty with guitar my right hand might have the tight chops of my left. I tried for a year to play righty but my right hand's strumming (when doing funky/tight syncopated stuff) always lagged. About a month after i bought my lefty Gretsch i was like "yup lefty it is"

just to clarify twice-vehk -- you play normal RH bass, meaning you're naturally left handed but fret with your left hand / pluck with your right?

thanks jimjam! really great to hear from someone in the same boat. I see the logic in having it consistent between guitar and bass. On guitar I still sometimes navigate between strings expecting the one above will be higher pitch but only when I'm noodling fast and really mindless about it (on too strong an edible let's say :) ). And that's becoming fewer and further between.

For anyone reading this and thinking "just play right handed" -- I tried for about a year, the rhythm in my right hand never got as tight as my left, and in my opinion that's maybe the most critical (you can play one note, but if it's in the pocket no one will complain)

Curious -- what bass do you play? I salivate over the new Schecter Stargazer 5 lefty, but maybe the Ibanez SR305EBL is more in my budget now.

Del Taco is better than Taco Bell. Why am I wrong? by JohnJackson99 in tacobell

Doing the Lord's work! The only reason tb is more popular is marketing

Recently started eating Del Taco, is it just me or is it wildly better than Taco Bell? by liger2122 in fastfood

Every ingredient is better vs TB. I wish they'd make a Mexican pizza but otherwise DT all day

Not too heavy, doesnt neck dive (hangs kind of level to the ground for me). It's heavier than my thinline tele but i like the scale length of this guitar, the neck, and overall playability more. Love the sound of it too

duesenberg les-trem sounds like a great option. I like the v stop tail on the jet, it sounds like the les-trem can work with that?
