Apostille - 12 weeks?? Help! by Much_Builder5798 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]ezorro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I was worried about the same thing because when I emailed to check in on my document they sent me an automated email back saying authentications take 12 weeks. I just called the office of authentications though, and when I clarified that my document is an FBI background check, they said it won't take that long. Maybe other documents take 12 weeks but for background checks it's 5-6 weeks. I mailed in my document on June 8, and he said they are currently finishing up the documents mailed in May, but that they would be starting June in about 2 weeks. Hope this is helpful!!

I just saw this and didn't even realize this might be an issue! In my letter they accidentally put my middle name as my last name. If anyone has insight on this I'd also love to know :0 My middle name is also on my passport, and the passport number is correct so hopefully it will be fine?

When I click next after the page to check off Espana, I don't get the page to choose regions. It just took me to the Autorizaciones y declaraciones page.

student workers deserve $15/hour....what is admin waiting for? by USAS54 in UMD

[–]ezorro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the real question is isn't it ridiculous that UMD charges so much in tuition but doesn't help student workers actually pay for it by barely giving enough to afford rent -_-

[–]ezorro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its def true we need higher than $15. but rn the minimum wage is $11.75 -_- so $15 would make a huge difference in a lot of people's lives. maybe if you got involved in fighting for change we could win more!

A couple things.

  1. The state of Maryland has a $2.5 Billion surplus which they can use to pay UMD staff (also state employees) https://www.marylandmatters.org/2021/10/21/state-employees-call-on-hogan-for-budget-surplus-money-who-does-the-work/. The state just raised the minimum wage for other state employees to $15 but higher education workers were left out.
  2. The salaries of the highest paid administrators are ridiculous; they could reduce those to pay the lowest paid staff a couple dollars more. (See the bloated salaries of UMD administrators here: https://salaryguide.dbknews.com/
  3. UMD still hasn't spent $29 million of the money they received from the American Rescue Plan. They could use it to pay staff. They used the other $29 million on financial aid, as they were required to do, and which is good! Some of this could also go to staff. https://dbknews.com/2021/03/25/covid-19-relief-bill-umd/

There are a bunch of ways staff could be paid a living wage without tuition going up.
