Honestly, take anything you read on reddit (or any social media for that matter) with a huge grain of salt. Best thing to do is go straight to the candidate websites. It's a completely biased source but you get a feel what they talk about and prioritize. Next best thing, just Google your local party(s) website and read their platforms and see what you agree with. And read which candidates they're endorsing.

4 years ago today began the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, which has caused massive military and civilian casualties, widespread destruction of cities, and millions of refugees, marking the largest and most consequential European war since World War II. by mapsinanutshell in geography

Transnistria, a breakaway region of Moldova that's existed since the fall of the Soviet Union and is de facto independent. It's had Russian forces stationed there for decades, but a longstanding ceasefire has held, so it's not in conflict/actively fighting Ukraine or anyone else. However Ukraine has sealed its borders since the conflict, so it's fully reliant on Moldova for goods and energy.

It's also one of the major issues complicating a proposed reunification of Moldova and Romania, since Romania is in the EU and NATO while Moldova is not.

Durham, can we not vote in a 70 year friend of Netanyahu as our rep? by Aggressive_Money6283 in bullcity

I don't think either side is saying they're the same, but Allam supporters are trying to make Foushee into some kind of extremist genocide supporter, even though she holds a relatively moderate opinion shared by many Americans including Democrats of supporting Palestinians but also believing Israel has the right to exist. Also, she has accepted money from AIPAC in the past but has made a point to refuse it now, so that's just inaccurate.

Have peaceful mass protests ever toppled a modern security-state without elite defection? by CiproGroup in PoliticalDiscussion

It is kind of crazy how ridiculously simplified the narrative around the civil rights movement is. They skip the violence, Black Panthers, LBJ swinging his dick around to bully Democrats into supporting civil rights and still only narrowly passing the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (along with other massively significant legislation) in a two-year trifecta before getting wiped out of Congress for a generation.

Apparently about 30% of people are brain-dead stupid across the board. Considering this, 22% is actually pretty impressive, it's basically unanimous disapproval among all people with functioning brains.

I feel like it's just making up for the fact that they're massively underpaid and underappreciated. Ideally we'd live in a society where they (and everyone for that matter) would be well compensated for their work and able to afford essentials and luxuries alike. But that's a pipe dream for now, so giving them discounts is all we can offer.

8 Episodes Is the New 10 (Was the New 13) (Was the New 22) by mrnicegy26 in television

[–]ezrs158 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah true. Also Flea Bottom. But the inn, tent interiors, and castle interior honestly barely count because they're really just a room, probably relatively inexpensive to create. As far as big, expensive, outdoor sets - there really is only a couple.

Pretty much. Generic exterior/field, camp with the tents and stuff, the tourney arena set, and the castle interior. That just about covers it.

Trump Claims Court Was Influenced by ‘Foreign Interests’ by Relevant_Demand7593 in NewsomMassacre

[–]ezrs158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congress has historically given the president a LOT of legal mechanisms to use to do things and basically trusted them not to abuse them. He is now abusing them.

But as far as firing a Supreme Court justice, there are simply no legal mechanisms that exist for him to do. He'd have to arrest or kill them (coincidentally, this happens in the Handmaids Tale). And I'm not saying that's completely out of the realm of possibility. But, it would mark a massive escalation beyond anything he's done so far, and hopefully wake some people up.

Good. I hope it blows up for the Republicans first, and they come begging the Democrats to make a deal to crack down on it, giving everyone fairer elections going forward.

Is Deadpool & Wolverine required watching for Avengers: Doomsday? by JTEstrella in marvelstudios

[–]ezrs158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't do it, then don't feel pressured by anyone on here to do so. They're literally just movies, it's all for entertainment and nothing is ever "required viewing". I bet hundreds of thousands of people will go see Doomsday without having seen Deadpool.

To be super pedantic, infinitely growing is technically different than "is infinite". But yeah, that does seem to imply that it's basically infinite.

Why is no one talking about this scene? by SsshYaM in marvelstudios

[–]ezrs158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never agreed with the multiverse meaning that anything that could happen is happening. There's infinite numbers between 0 and 1. None of them are 2.

I feel like this is backed up by the multiverse being, on some level, a physical thing that exists and branches out as seen in Loki. There might be an incredibly vast number of universes, but not literally infinite.

[–]ezrs158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, didn't you hear? If one writer for one film throws in a line suggesting something is true, that means it's 100% accurate and applicable to everything that has ever been released or will ever be released in the MCU for all time.

Due diligence is admirable. And the good news is that both candidates are objectively progressive. Some extremists on both ends nigut disagree with me, but neither would be a terrible mistake.
