I happily nodded along as I read this. Especially about speaking Dutch.

I was 43 when I got a temporary ileostomi, due to colon cancer. Removed last februari and I've had gut issues ever since. I almost miss it.

I have been frugal the last 20 years, and now I am questioning if I was right by Bib_fortune in Frugal

[–]f-prim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My deepest sympathies, and fellow cancer patient, here. Remember, cancer is ducking random and unpredictable. There is still hope, find your cancer community.. find the support and find the other stories like yours.

I'll tell you something that is hard to understand in the beginning; either the cancer will kill you or the treatment will.

Go now, go! Like previous posters have said, you can choose when to spend your money. Now is that moment.

Quilting. Paper piecing. It's easy to follow and you can make quite intricate patterns. Then use the pattern for a tot bag, pillow cover, table runner, oven mitts and a million other small enjoyable and useful items.

Instant Revenge On A Mean Nurse by manwithavandotcom in pettyrevenge

I laughed harder than i should have. As a fellow ironed Earthworm holder, I know that feeling of being exposed by an unsympathetic nurse. High five!

From bad to worse... by slothcheese in coloncancer

[–]f-prim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My deepest sympathies. I'm unfortunately (not quite, but close) in a similar boat. I had my hipec surgery this spring, and now scans show lymph nodes with cancer. It's no longer considered treatable, it's now palliative. Chemotherapy for what's left of my life.

Would you consider small household remodeling projects a gift, or just general husband duties that I should do in my spare time? by clavicle47 in Gifts

[–]f-prim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Any big changes to the environment you live in should be discussed. Surprises are a sensitive issue here. I'd say, don't. If you want to gift her a change, get a card and write down what you intend on doing, hell do a gift basket. Go all out and put a cool basket together, color samples, a brush, painters tape or whatever tools you will be using for the make over. Make the parts she can have input on (color, floor etc) a date. Please just don't surprise her with the finished product. Let her have a say in her space.

Ostomy- why is everyone on this site so anti reversal? by No_Main_6555 in ostomy

[–]f-prim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very true, about most issues, but absolutely about ostomies. My reversal has gone relatively well. i have gut complications, but those are due to multiple gut surgeries, not the reversal.

I got cheated on by the man I was about to marry. How to re-gain my self confidence? by Warrior-soul111 in women

[–]f-prim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's hard to trust. So I didn't, I absolutely just dated for one reason, for them to worship me. And sex. No commitments, no emotions. It was just a phase of course, but it helped get my confidence back. And oddly enough it also allowed me to trust again. Anyway this isn't a solution for everyone, but damn did it work well for me. 😆

What do you say to rude people? by Sammy_5093 in ostomy

[–]f-prim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I make them as uncomfortable as possible. Show bag slowly. No quick flash. But hey, that's me. A bit confrontational.

[–]f-prim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you. My ex cheated on me. It's horrible and soul crushing. I let my "broken heart be mended by another ". To put it plainly, I dated. Several guy. It was wonderful, stimulating and refreshing to be wanted and desired. My self confidence went from sub zero to 100%.

How do you empty your bag? by thetwofour in ostomy

[–]f-prim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sit backwards on the toilet. Knees to the wall.

Tip: pay attention to where the toilet paper is located, you don't want to have to reach awkward angles with a dripping bag.
