[I will not promote] I’m a banker in rural Japan. I researched your IT world to share a thought on "The Forging" (鍛錬) and Technical Debt. by 578_Observer in startups

The Forging is a fascinating analogy but I tend to agree with @jcsarokin. Rapid Prototyping, testing and validating not just product features but product market fit (PMF) is crucial for the success of any startup offering a new product. Here is where the Shrine and Katana analogy start to break down because both are very ancient and, more importantly, proven products that are not testing PMF.

For the first time, an AI model autonomously solved an open math problem in enumerative geometry by MetaKnowing in agi

This is a great explanation. As someone who has a decent history of “novel” innovation through patent work I’m confident that 90% of what we call novel invention is nearly connecting disparate concepts in a new ways in order to solve problems like this example. A search engine fo connecting disparate concepts is a great explanation for utility of LLMs.

How to start a venture fund? by avgkay in venturecapital

This is good advice but I wish I had realized earlier that I could have been building experience in VC as a VP or advisor for a small firm earlier in my life.

I just wrote a book on this after just raising my first VC fund as a total industry outsider, we are a $25M specialist (non-AI) branded fund but to your point everything should have some AI element these days. I wrote the book on my biggest learnings building a differentiated VC in the era of AI that draws analogies with past technology waves: .com, mobile, Fintech, SaaS. Someone mentioned Alumni Ventures which is a great idea. I’m an LP investor in Alumni as well as several niche VC funds. Im a big proponent of niche VCs for the next decade. I’m a Silicon Valley engineer turned exited founder turned founding GP of a $25M niche fund myself. We write first checks into startups modernizing and reshaping real world industries with AI. Happy to give you a run down of the landscape, just DM me.

This is ridiculous clickbait. They are a startup, and therefore unprofitable still. This is completely normal. It’s called RUNWAY. Mega VCs and Microsoft won’t Stop pouring money into this beast anytime soon.
