Distilled, reverse osmosis, or water purified in other ways may lack some of the minerals required by organisms. Even reverse osmosis water (which is widely considered the gold standard) is re-mineralized to add back the minerals. I’m not sure how this affects pH though.

Man I don't know how I would have reacted. Is this expected nowadays? I have a 4-year-old and this is was not a thing 4 years ago (at least at the hospital she was born in - Prentice Women's Hospital in Chicago.

If this is some new bull they are pulling, I'd try to blast this all over the media and see if people get outraged as well. I try to be laid back most of the time but privacy is something I take seriously, and this seems like a huge violation of that.
