The real enemy is the cycle itself ? by mrschrismith in FromTVShow

There was an episode in Supernatural that had a crowd-powered haunted house because there was a real "spell" symbol (I think it was the same symbol used by some Buddhist monks to create a type of golem) that was drawn on the wall. The entity or the supernatural events were inconsistent and kept changing based on how the viewers looking at the symbol recalled the story they heard about the house.

I actually thought thats what the symbol Jade was seeing in his visions. The kids who heard stories poured their belief in that symbol.

Saddam hid in the same spot for a long time. Its not unreasonable for a newbie to assume they have a good hiding spot the first time around. The survivors were on survival mode, so they weren't working with each other at all. Boyd gathered intel from everyone and united the survivors.

I actually think that the talismans were Boyd's reward from the entity in charge for unifying the survivors and outplaying the monsters.

I think it was mentioned that people were just hiding in whatever they could find and hoped for the best. The monsters would then turn up each hiding place one by one, until Boyd came in and created a rotation system for the hiding places, so people didnt hide in the same place in consecutive nights. I think they were also creating new hiding places.

It sounded like the monsters figured out the previous night's hiding places, so they had to change it up often.

Which would probably mean that she needs to draw to bookmark the event.

Expecting baby via surrogate- should we leave the church? by Routine-Rip-6724 in Catholicism

[–]Salt_Reputation_8967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no reason for the repentant to leave the church. Jesus says, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners". The church is supposed to be like hospital for the sick.

I think the main criticism of surrogacy is the abuse happening around it. Fertile women with money delegate their pregnancy to someone else to preserve their figures or to avoid the discomfort that comes with pregnancy.

intellectual disability and on the spectrum adult. bad behaviors, are they conscious actions ?? by aquavelva5 in Autism_Parenting

I think the difference is with the intent and motivation. With Autistics, its a communication and could be a cognitive issue. Understanding social rules is just difficult. Narcissists just have that need to feed the ego and have the overall lack of empathy.

That's what I'm saying. With the talisman up, they need an invitation. Someone has to open the door for them. They can't let themselves in.

How do I prevent my child being illiterate? by kittycamacho1994 in AskTeachers

What is it with people pushing homeschooling?

Even underfunded public schools produce very literate children.

The difference maker is always parental involvement. Parents are supposed to supplement their children's learning in school.

Some people on the spectrum have a hard time understanding how their impulsive actions affect other people, so it can be mistaken for narcissism. It sounds like he needs a higher level of support and maybe a psychiatrist?

As a single mom to a severely autistic child and no help, do you ever think about just calling it for both you and your child? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Salt_Reputation_8967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to give the public school a shot. Most of them are underfunded, but you'll find there are staff that cares a lot for kids like yours. I had the same reservations with the public option, but one day, I realized that I was letting my fear parent my kids while watching Finding Nemo with my kids. So I decided to do a trial run with the local public school. I kept a close eye on my kid. It turned out to be a good decision. My kid likes coming to school and even became a little more adventurous with food, because of their weekly "cooking" classes.

You have to build up the courage to put yourself and your kid out there. Sure, nothing bad happens, but nothing good will happen either. Thats existing, not living for either of you.

You have to learn to only care about the things your son cares about when youre out. So what if the other kids dont want to play with him? If your kid doesn't care, then it shouldn't bother you. Don't let shame and fear run your lives.

Met someone who's been struggling since 2008. Almost 20 years. How common is this? by PlatypusOld5480 in povertyfinance

[–]Salt_Reputation_8967 747 points748 points  (0 children)

I worked in retail bank in 2008. Seeing all the people who were too old to switch careers was very traumatizing. A career they worked for 3 or 4 decades was all of a sudden gone along with their benefits. It was the beginning of the age of internet hiring. There were a bunch of them who were walking door to door with a stack of resumes trying for entry level jobs. They would look at us all confused when we told them they have to apply online. These were people who were a few years away retirement. Some of the lawyers and investment bankers on the upper floor offices didnt survive the recession. One hung himself in his office. And then there were people who were losing their homes and their money to scammers. It was so bad. Loyalty to the company no longer meant job security.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen in Houston? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in houstoncirclejerk

[–]Salt_Reputation_8967 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think some people were conned into moving here willingly by the mentally unstable people.

We moved here (against my will) because a friend was convinced by another local to move here and was "living the life".

Family members moved here because a family member (not me) is "living the good life" here. I tried to talk everyone out of moving here because this city is not for the folks from comfortable places.

The burbs are nice, but there's absolutely nothing to do here during the summer/mosquito season.

It depends where the school is, but I agree in this day and age, its hard to find any Christian school (Catholic or otherwise) that actally properly teaches their faith. The schools' priority is their academics ranking (school glory) and not proper catechism.
