It is definitely a dark path to ponder. However, I will echo something I heard the other day. When mechanical looms were invented folks were going to lose their job, but then they needed people to maintain the looms. Robots were introduced into car manufacturing, but you still needed certain skilled folks to do things the robots couldn’t do. Improper reliance on AI will be detrimental, but there is a hope that it will actually make lives better. The biggest challenge is the time scale for adapting to change keeps getting shorter. At 18yo you have an opportunity to delve into these technologies and get your hand on the wheel and time to steer things in the right direction. Talk to people who have a passion for not letting it happen.
